$32 at Casanovas in Hudson. Anyone pull the trigger? As much as I would love to cellar a bottle, I'm having a hard time with the price tag.

Nope, also saw it recently and passed. (Although did pick up a Sour in The Rye for $22)

Had it at the Bruery taproom, it's really, really sweet. I can't imagine splitting this with less than 4 other people, it is sweeeeet!

I had each of the 4 variants myself over the course of a little over a week (basically split each bottle out over two evenings back-to-back). Although it sounds like overkill, it was fun to do it that way since it really allowed for the opportunity to compare the nuances of the different barrels while still enjoying each one rather than doing a straight horizontal in one tasting.

Drinking the whole bottles, I would rank them: Brandy>Bourbon>Rye>Oak
Drinking smaller tastings, I would rank them: Brandy>Oak>Bourbon>Rye

I think the distinction was that the Oak was really different and interesting relative to the others, so enjoyed it at first, but did not hold up as well to finishing off the whole bottle.

I have had the last few year's anniversary batches and they were all great, but get a bit nicer with each year's release, IMO.

Anyway, I thought the Bourbon (the one in Hudson) was great, and well worth the price to try at least once. Also, for those hesitant to crack a big bottle alone: they hold up great for a day or two if you use a wine stopper and put them back in the fridge (would not do that with many beers, but works fine for these).

Really wanted to try this, but passed due to the price.

Bit. Because I reluctantly picked up the expensive Fruet, drank it, & wished I'd bought nine.

Seems likely I'll have the same reaction to Bois, since I'm really enjoying the Anniversary series. Wish it didn't ding the wallet so hard.

So, Bois is 5th anniversary, what were the 4th, 3rd, etc? Are those Coton, Papier, Fruet, etc?

Yes, they try to use the French language for anniversary gifts for the names.

I got one in Chicago at Binny's for $30, but looked at it for quite a while before deciding to pick it up.

I won't even consider buying anything made by the Bruery anymore. Overpriced and overrated.
