gonna bump this up. was sad to see pre funk closed last time I was in town (last year) - and looks like woodland is no longer also? headed out in the am for a week and wondering what I should hit up. bittercreek and barbarian are on my perpetual list, but anything else worth hitting up?
it was recently sold to a new owner (same as bittercreek). shut down temporarily for permitting. i think. i think payette is pretty cool. love matlack's, too. fuck ab inbev and all but 10 barrel continues to make award-winning beer with pretty good food. mother earth has good beer, have no experience going to their physical locations.
I really enjoyed the beers a friend brought back from Edge Brewing in Boise. That was 5-6 years ago, though.
Sorry I didn't see this sooner, if anybody ever has questions, please tag me and I will see that a lot sooner than just cruising the forums. Western Collective and Barbarian are mostly making the best beers in Boise. Mother Earth has a newish taproom in the east end of downtown and is generally the "best/most consistent" beers but they aren't as curious/experimental as WC or Barbarian. Bittercreek / Diablo and Sons will have the best taplist with a restaurant... And Diablo has a pretty tasty weekend brunch. 10 Barrel makes great beers and is super consistent (plus good food), but I "try" to not give them too much cash. Bottleshops in order from best selection to good selection ... Brewer's Haven on Vista, Homebrew Stuff on Chinden, Hops and Bottles in DT Boise, then the 2x Boise COOP locations. I can answer more direct questions if people have them, just tag me or reply to this post.
Apologies for reviving a 18mo old thread, but figured it would still be the best plan. I am considering Boise for a solo beer-centric extra long weekend but sometimes its hard to judge smaller cities. How is getting around? Is there decent transit, scooter rentals? or am I looking at a lot of walking if I am hitting a bunch of places for flights/pints? Seems like a decent number of breweries and/or bars to keep me busy, but wondering about the logistics of being solo.
Scooters are everywhere downtown making it easier to get to the periphery and beyond pretty easily. Uber and Lyft are easy. There are city buses, but I know not much about them. If you give us enough time, there are a couple local guys that absolutely live for showing people around and going from brewery to brewery to tick new beers... and if the time is right, we might even be able to squeeze in a bottle share for you.
