I will be in Brussels from 9/8-9/12 and I was wondering what the availability of Bokkereyder is like? I've been lucky enough to try a couple of their offerings and they are VERY tasty. I would love to get my hands on a couple bottles or some drafts if possible. There is pretty sparse info online from these guys so I figured this would be the best place to gather some intel! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Jon
I really wouldn't bother. I've never heard of it being available commercially. And forget drafts -- by definition it can't be draft unless he gets into blending barrels or something. (I also wouldn't fetishize finding stuff on tap in Belgium because, unlike stateside, it's not typically some purer or more original form of the product -- there are quite a few of the classic names that only do kegs for the American market.) BUT you can get draft lambics at a few placesd in/around Brussels: the Moeder Lambic bars obviously, La Fleur on Papier Doré, I seem to recall La Villette restaurant, and there may well be others mentioned in this forum. Outside town, In de Verzekering Tagen de Grote Dorst if you can get out there on Sunday morning, Drie Fonteinen for theirs, De Heeren van Liedekercke. Still, don't feel at all let down to drink great gueuzes in the bottle at the great bars of Brussels.
Thanks for the info! I meant something more along the line of pours vs. draft....I completely understand the bottle conditioning aspect of geuze/lambic and will be attacking bottle lists everywhere! Hahah As far as bokkereyder, I was just hoping to get anything and everything! Haha.
Any news regarding this subject? I'll a personal acquaintance in Brussels for a few days and I thought I could get my hands on some Bokkereyder. But first, I need to know where to look for it.
We are really hoping to be able to make it over there sometime later this year!! I’ll most certainly be in touch homie!
