Bought a can of Sapporo Reserve and thought the can was pretty cool. Got to looking and noticed it's 22oz and got me thinking about the possibility of craft companies doing bomber cans. Does anyone already do this? I mean a 22oz can of Dreadnaught would be pretty sweet!

You realize that's pretty close to two 12oz cans, right? So it would combine none of the advantages of smaller sealed portions with all of the disadvantages of committing to opening a larger container of a highly perishable product.

I always get a kick out of seeing those 32 oz High Life cans in a convenience store.

Singles of the various Surly year-round offerings are typically retailing for $2.50 around here (which isn't bad at all for a 16oz can of highly-regarded Craft beer), but I can imagine a larger format can adding to the cost of the product owing to the uniqueness of the size/format -- especially from a smaller, Craft brewery. They just don't have the economies of scale to buy the way the larger brewers (e.g. "Sapporo") do for their brands.

Cold Spring has (or at least had) a half-dozen of their own brands in their own 'Double Pints' format, but last I remember hearing is they were going away. They routinely retailed for between $2.75 and $3.50.

Plus, the stovepipe cans cost more per ounce where I've seen them.

Despite the taste, I still like the ol' Foster's "oil can"

I would LOVE quart cans of IPAs, but pints are just fine too.
IMO Sapporo's can is awesome because of how it's made (how sturdy it is)
As for the "tall boy" comment, I'm partial to calling them 2x4's :stuck_out_tongue:

although I'm all for big cans . It is a bigger commitment to finish a can, and what if you bought it on a whim? Then you have 23 more ounces to drink.

But I do love pint cans, the right amount.

let's not forget, the father of all large cans, the Foster's Oil Can. Beer blows, but after the first it doesn't matter.

Sweet Boneless Jesus, NO!!! There are enough oddball formats and sizes out there as it is. 22oz bottles are bad enough, I hate 'em, but a 22 can defeats the whole purpose of the convenience aspect of cans in the first place. Stop the packaging madness already.
