I have the same problem with Hoppin Frog. I live within a half hour of the brewery but rarely drink their beers because they are only sold in $10 bombers. No sign of change anytime in the future as far as I know.

It's about raising capital for future expansion, or if you're Three Floyds it is because you have trained your customers, and retail outlets to accept it as reality even though they are getting the same things from the same people as everyone else is. I'm sure some of the pricepoint has to do with paying their friends off for the bragging rights and related artwork it supplies. But. Skulls, bunnies and flowers.

Maybe, but I'll posit that so much great wine flies under the radar, is not crazily touted by reviewers and journals, is way cheaper than the "touted" brands, and is every bit as good or even better than the "known" items'. Same thing for beer. Simply being a smart consumer and not a follower opens up a huge new world of beverage choices.

It's true I'm using the word "best" a little loosely, maybe "most highly regarded by enthusiasts" is more appropriate. And I certainly agree there are great choices out there that are less expensive. I guess my point was more that you would be hard pressed to find a bottle of beer priced in the thousands (although I know there are a few out there) than you would a bottle of wine or scotch.

The worst are breweries that have been around awhile and still only bottle in bombers. I get seasonal and special release but your core products in bombers? I try to avoid bombers as much as I can.

The good thing is there is enough good beer and choices that if you don't like it you don't have to buy it.
