Hoppin Frog bombers... I don't think I've ever seen a normal size bottle

Maine Beer uses that ludicrous bottle format, 19.2 or whatever

In Ontario, the 750ml format is overwhelmingly reserved for seasonal or one-off releases. Even then, it’s more likely to be a 650ml size. Unibroue in Quebec still uses the 750ml size for their flagship beers. Personally, I love the format and am pleased that many Belgian breweries still use it liberally.

All of HF’s hoppy beer comes in cans or growlers. A few clean barrel beers and stouts and porters come in 500 ml bottles. The mixed fermentations and some wine-barreled beers come in 750s. That’s about it. Overall, most of their beer is not sold in 750s.

This... best somewhat-easily available impy stout in the state. When you can get it by the growler at the brewery, its great sleep medication for the campground.

I see a lot more 12oz bottles and cans of Hoppin Frog these days. Still WAY overpriced in any size from them.

Maine Beer uses a 500ml bottle - it's a metric world after all. It's the same bottle used by RR for Pliny the Elder among other beers.

Trillium uses bottles - currently they have available beer in 750s, 22 oz bombers, 375ml, and 330ml bottles.

So, bottles are far from dead.

Came here to say this, but considering how good the beer is, not a gutbuster and not harsh on the mouth, I consider this not a bad thing for at least de Garde.

Yes. Overrated Hoppin Frog still sells most of their stuff in bombers at Hill Farmstead or Cantillion 750 prices.

What is this "splitting" to which you refer? And why does it result in you only drinking half of your beer?! Is this a relative of that barborous past time of "sharing"?

    Well, I never...:unamused:

I wish more people would out lighter.beers in 22s/750s. But I suppose they could just give me some craft 24 oz cans and I'd survive

750ml bottles are my preferred size for anything that isn't an everyday offering. My wife and I end up splitting basically everything, so those are perfect for that.
In CO, Casey bottles are almost entirely 750's. They only use smaller sizes for their small batch IPA's and stouts.

Side Project does the majority of releases in 750ml format.

Excluding their cans, Tired Hands releases their bottled lineup in 750ml and bombers.

750mls are all over the place. Bombers though...It really highlights the declining of smaller big bottles. It's a nice format for heavy, high ABV beers. I don't always want to solo 3/4 of a litre of 15% ABV motor oil.

    Drop those bombers!

While you generally see all the Westbrook stouts in 22oz bottles they recently did a run of Siberian Black Magic Panther in 4-pack of 16oz which is something I hope they extend to some of their other stouts as the format lowers the $/oz substantially

As far as Angry Chair goes while I understand putting stouts in 750ml bottles I don't really think smaller beers like their Puffs beers fit well in the format but I know it is just a marketing thing.

Unpopular opinion, but I like bombers and 750 formats some of the time. For example if you aren’t sessioning out or sampling , they can be a nice one and down for the night. They are also very conducive to sharing/splitting bottle. Plus, I have many memories of good times downing 750s of those 18-20% ABV beers from The Bruery. I mean once they’re open you gotta finish them. Hopefully you just didn’t have much to do early the next AM.

Now if we want to talk about a format that has no purpose.......we should start the discussion at those worthless 16oz cans.......

Ommegang and Allagash both do a lot of 750s. They do have other sizes as well, but I don't see them retiring them anytime soon.

Averie Swanson left Jester King to create Keeping Together, which she brews at Half Acre's brewery. She sells table / light ABV saisons, sold in 750 ml bottles. They are most excellent. I don't expect that to change. Was fortunate to pick up a bunch of her JK vintage bottles via a bar sale courtesy of The Rona last month.

I prefer the bottle format for ALL cellar beers. The 750 ml bottle works well for lower ABV offerings, and I prefer the shift by many brewers to swap imperial stout bombers with 12-16.9 oz bottles, many times at a cheaper per oz price to the consumer. I need to plot significant nap time if you want to tackle a 12-16 % ABV bomber solo. A 16 oz share works well 2 or 3 ways.
