Anyone else read this short Bon Appetit article from a few days ago recommending five beers for Thanksgiving? A pretty good list, IMO—though I am sure we can all think of changes we would personally make. I've always considered Bruery Autumn Maple to be a quintessential Thanksgiving time beer and the others are also solid picks. In general, it's just good to see craft beer getting more press. Thoughts?

They recommend The Abyss for Thanksgiving dinner? Nice.

It's another random list? I've never heard of bonappetit, it seems like that is some random blog post, not really press.

Random? Looks good but typical to me stylistically speaking, missing something with hops.

I would have to agree, pretty good list. Not bad at all!

I don't think Id call it random. Bon Appetit is a respected foodie publication. (Plus, if you look at your browser tabs, I have a "BA" right next to my "BA". Coincidence? I think not.)

Seriously, I'm not sure I agree with the pairings - I don't know if I'd want a sour red with Turkey and stuffing, or a monster of an Imperial Stout with pumpkin pie. But considering the audience at the "other" BA, I am not surprised and very glad to see them going for big bottles of a cross section of very complex beers. You could make an argument for a marzen or even hefeweizen or dunkelweizen with turkey, or American brown or such like with sides like sweet potatoes, or a saison or belgian dubbel with pumpkin pie or apple pie. And I personally would make that argument, because one of the points I love making with foodies is that it is easier to open a bottle for every course with beer. But I bet they wouldn't appeal to the Bon Appetit crowd quite so much as a corked 750 that you have to look for and pay double digits for when you find it, and brings a ton of complexity in the glass. So good on them for knowing their audience.

In any event, every time I see foodies talking about beer pairings, I count it as a win.

Seriously, am I missing a joke here? It's one of the more widely respected gourmet style cooking magazines that has been around for over 50 years. They have a circulation that any beer magazine only has wet dreams about.

The website doesn't get much traffic and the blog is clearly secondary within the site.

It's still just another list. I don't see the attraction in all these random lists. People really like lists of beers. Some people like to tick the lists, some people like to complain about exclusions or inclusions in a list, but i just see them all as random pointless lists.

It's really great to see Bon Appetit talking about beer pairings. Seems like a win to me. As for the pairings themselves, I could see how they'd appeal to their audience.

The f are you talking about? Ever heard of Epicurious? One of the biggest food and recipe websites around? Yeah, that's run by Bon Appetit and Gourmet magazines.

The F are you talking about? Can you read? That doesn't take anything away from what I said?
