I'm pretty sure when buying the deals on boom sauce (from Atlantic) are like 10 cs and 25 cs for the top deal, so you have stores getting talked into a 25cs drop and sitting on it for months

I would try the newest batches, but when LHBC entered RI late October, the "new" Boom sauce cans were from 8/31. Great way to get us excited about trying this. Needless to say, many cases with that date are still sitting on the floor at shops all over.

What deals? In that the 4packs are basically the same price everywhere, I don't think anyone is getting a deal. That being said, the retailer is not passing on the savings if getting a deal on a bigger drop.

Cut your losses, admit the wrong, and go back to running a bar. Unless they truly think you can turn it around...or just start pumping out solid lagers?

Last update was that he was planning a LHBC brewpub in Kendall Sq. Guy thinks his business model is working.

Have they tried making something other than an IPA yet? I know there were some pilot sours at the brewery but I thought they were probably going to make a stout too.

They mentioned a stout before they opened on twitter but I never saw anything come of it. I tried 2 of the pilot sours and they were laughably bad.

Was one of the pilot sours dark in color? Maybe with some roasty character to it? Reminiscent of a stout perhaps?

Glad I could help solve that mystery for you :grinning:

What makes you think they can produce a solid lager?

Plus, I'd say another MA brewery already has that covered then some.

True. Plus, they cant even get A single beer down. I'm not sure why he even feels he needs to be in the brewery business. Not a smart investment,

IF this is the reason (and I'm not saying it is) it would likely be because hop contracts are bought in advance and Trillium would have been able to do that, being around longer

Their other IPAs have been pretty good, from what I've tasted and heard. But trying to pin down the recipes for 3 IPAs plus trying to pin down the mix on their flagship which is an ever-evolving mix of their ever-changing base IPAs just seems like a dumb idea to start off with.

This thread had my interest piqued enough to roll the dice on one of the new cans of STC with the unintelligible date codes. I actually thought it was pretty good - the weird aftertaste I got on the previous couple of cans seemed to be gone and it wouldn't be an unreasonable purchase at $12 a four pack.

On the downside, the store I got it from in Wilmington had 7 cases of September dated Boom Sauce sitting out warm on the floor along with the 2 or 3 cases of new STC. And it really is sort of a bad look to have the September cans clearly dated while the "newer" ones stacked right next to them had the mystery codes instead.

Did they switch to Julian dating or is it more obscure than that? I saw STC at he store and noticed the new dating scheme and assumed it was Julian but honestly didn't look closely. Started with a 5 I think.

I didn't think it was Julian but I also didn't look too carefully at them either (I do think I remember them starting with a 5 as well).

I was actually more focused on trying to find the dates on the single cans at the time. The store I was at used to have stickered dates on the individual cans for sale but there were no longer any markings on any of them. Only the 4 packs had the date codes on them (on the plastic holder part). Since all the 4 packs of STC had the new codes I assumed the singles were from that batch too.

The dude hyped the beer and it fell way short of expectations from said hype. If he never said anything about it I'm sure people wouldn't like the beer. The fact that he's arrogant and it's not very good is making the pitchforks come out. Better to have your beer speak for itself like Trillium and Treehouse.

Saw Boom Sauce and Steal this Can at Foxboro Trader Joes tonight - both dated 9/21. Steal this Can was $11.99 per 4 pack and Boom Sauce was $13.99. Price is probably the most reasonable that I have seen, but its a 3 month old IPA at this point.

Odd that the mixers are less than the mixed.

I looked more closely today at a different store (which also had 7 or 8 cases of September dated Boom Sauce on the floor). The code was 50142, so unless it was made in May it doesn't seem to be Julien dating. I may be stupidly overlooking something obvious (always a possibility), but I can't say I know what those numbers are supposed to represent.
