They have pretty obviously stoped dating cans for retail reasons. Or retail has started to peel stickers off the four packs. Im going to go with both as the answer.

I wonder if anyone from LHBC will address any problems or miscommunications between their retailers or customers about canning date issues, especially with the comments being made here. Someone in this thread mention earlier that LHBC had replace boom sauce send to Fort Point Market after complaining on Twitter but I can confirm from a couple of people that is inaccurate of it being happened. Few of my friends stopped by Trillium yesterday afternoon and stop by Fort Point market and saw the 09/21 can date sticker on a couple of cases of boom sauce. Even the cashier at the store had told them that the was the latest beers from LHBC in the last 2 weeks. I guess someone isn't sticking to their guns.

In all seriousness - would like to try it again. Had the first batch on draft - no aroma, weird metallic aftertaste. Would like to see if there's been some progress. But if all the fresh batches are headed out of state, it's time for me to write them off.

You are correct. There are no distributor deals on Boom Sauce. Most likely just naïve managers who took their salesmans advice and ordered big.

    Isn't that technically illegal?

I believe so but I'm sure there's loopholes to it. Honestly when your working in the industry you'll see this type of scheme occur with wine mostly. Sales rep will say "1 on 5" or "1 on 10" as to say a case is technically free if you buy 5 cases and on the invoice it will show that 1 case is charged for zero dollars. None of the other distributor really do this type of set up in which your getting 1 or 2 cases free when your doing 10 case or 20 case drops. If you were to really look deep into how it works, well some stores owners don't really benefit from that free case because they have to at least move 10 cases at a fast rate because we all know volume matters in making some type of profit in the beer world. Clearly this isn't the case with boom sauces because it's just collecting dust at lot of stores.

I'm sure someone else can make sense of this deal for boom sauce.

Maybe blended IPAs age into world class liquid after several months and this is all part of their strategy.

Quantity discounts are not illegal as long as they're offered to everyone. What's illegal is offering discounts only to select stores.

Can an individual store decide to drastically drop their price to get rid of inventory or are they tied to some type of minimum? just curious.

Not really, once the product is in the store then the owner can do whatever they want with the pricing. A well run liquor store will probably drop the price to almost near cost price if it becomes a nightmare of watching cases and cases of certain beers stacked up. Then you'll probably have other stores that won't drop the price if they can just return it back to distributor. But then again distributors will have a hard time accepting it because a store owner will be giving chances to find solutions in getting rid of the product through beer tastings, buy 2 for 1 price or drop the price drastically.

In Vermont, retailers can't go lower than cost, and the DLC knows what the retailer paid for the product, so there's your floor. Don't know about MA laws, but I believe it's a pretty standard rule, with the obvious caveat that alcohol laws are drastically different from state to state.

This is what I was talking about. 1 free case on a ten case order and there's also 3 on 25, which is a lot of boom sauce to keep fresh. And I believe it comes on invoice as costing a penny

The funny thing about this beer is that I expect absolutely nothing from it, but am still very intrigued to try it because of all the preliminary hype and the disappointment that followed.

Had BS on tap in Portland on Saturday, definitely an improvement over the cans I had last summer (which were fresh). Has it been better on tap than cans IYO's ?

Odd that there hasn't been much/any marketing around the newly-improved Boom Sauce 2.0; I wouldn't have known to give it another try were it not for this thread.

Have they officially acknowledged that Boom Sauce 1.0 wasn't good? It seems like it would be odd to come out advertising "Now not shitty" when a lot of people probably didn't know it was shitty in the first place. Also to advertise it as improved would probably be too strong of a recognition that the first version was not good.

New Boom is very good. What's with the new white stickers. Are they Julian dates?

heard that LHBC is planning to launch a couple of new beers soon. Something similar sounding to the nightshift IPAs -- lower ABV w/mosaic or galaxy hops. anybody heard this? folks interested in this?

i had the new BS a couple of nights ago. it's much better but kind of tanks in the finish -- still not on the podium w the big 3-4 NE IPA brewers. still holding out hope
