Saw both BS and STC at a few places in Burlington/Waterbury/Stowe this past week. And FWIW two bartenders at Doc Ponds chose to crack a couple of BS cans once their shifts ended. There was no way I was giving it a try with all the other tasty treats to be had.

Just bought the latest batch (1/4/16) of Boom Sauce and it was REALLY malty. I gave it another chance because of this thread, but this is the last time I buy it in the foreseeable future.

Drinking the 12/22 batch that I was convinced to buy after reading some better reviews on here about it and I have to say...it way better than what I had months ago. Not nearly as sweet and malty. It's still not top tier and apparently according to the last message the 1/4/16 batch sucks but 12/22 is good. Inconsistency is the name of the game for Lord Hobo....

I have to totally disagree with the statement about the 1/4 batch being too malty. I bought both the 12/22 and the 1/4 and loved them both. I want to do a side by side but it reminded me a lot of Victory's Hop Ranch.

I loved the schadenfreude of this beer totally missing the mark initially and would read all these threads and agree but I think it's a very good beer now. I've only paid $15/4 which is kind of a lot but I'll definitely buy it again, especially if they are lowering the price to $12-13

Sure, but he's comparing it to Boom Sauce, which is 8% ABV in a 16 oz. can. So it didn't appear that alcohol was the variable he was highlighting in this particular case.

"Good comparison to Hop Ranch. For $15 I'd pick 9 Hop Ranches (108 ounces) vs. 64 ounces of Boom Sauce, but at $~13 it's a much more enticing proposition (and, of course, Hop Ranch isn't year round)"

I'm curious where you're finding Hop Ranch for $6.66 / 4pk. I'm pretty sure I've only seen it for like $12 or so per 4 pack.

Doh! I was using $10, but forget it was in four-packs, not six-packs. I obviously haven't picked any up this season yet. $15 would actually buy just about the same amount of beer as Boom Sauce (5 or 6 twelve-ounce bottles vs. 4 pint cans).

I work at Madden's Beverage in Saco and we just got a new batch of Boom Sauce in last week. Haven't tried it yet, but I enjoyed previous versions. Will be trying it soon, and it has been selling well along with Steal This Can.

Had one tonight. Juicy, balanced, rich mouthfeel - really great.

Drinking the 1/6 batch right now, and it's... fine. By way of comparison I cracked a CBC Flower Child, and drinking them side by side, I'd say Boom does have a little more juice to it, though I don't know if I'd call it a blanket. I'd say Boom is better but it's fairly close.

Again though, this strikes me as a problem for LH. It's not that the product is bad, it's that it's not great, and the business they're trying to build seems to be predicated on being great. If you're going to build this huge brewery, and come out of the gate with nothing but (D)IPAs, can you really get away with a product that's marginally better than Flower Child? It's been long enough that we can't really talk about "getting the system dialed in" or whatever anymore. Trillium brewed some mediocre beer on their new system, but within a few weeks they'd gotten things turned around completely. Hobo has had months and months and months to brew a "New England style juice blanket" and they're still nowhere close. Unless they get a new brewer in there, I think this is more or less what Lord Hobo is. I don't know if that's good enough for what they're trying to do.

I concur. It's too bad too because it's everywhere. It would have been nice to have a NE beer that's readily available at most package stores.

01/06/16 batch is tasty! IMO best juicy IPA/DIPA that can be bought in a store right now.

Having the 1/6 batch w/lunch - OK. Improvement from initial batches but not wowing me. Still prefer fresh Ipswich 101 & other out of area Hoppy beers to it for the price.

I tried a single with a January 2016 date, and was favorably impressed. Enough that I will grab a four pack if I find one in the $12-13 range. It is now what I wanted it to be, a well above average IIPA that is available in my local shop. The first can I had many months ago gave me an unfavorable impression.
