The only info on the main site is that it's first come first served. Does anyone know how fast it fills up, what the process is, where it is? Any info will be appreciated. Cheers! Also, who's going?!?
So glad this got posted. I just decided to pull the trigger and go, but don't know when I should arrive.
I think you can camp at the fairgrounds the night before if you really want to be first come. The fairgrounds are where you will be parking to camp and the festival will be adjacent to the camping. The closest camping will fill up quickly, but obviously the earlier you get there, the easier it is to set up your tent before four hours of drinking. From past experience it is always better to set up your tent before you go into the festival. I think it's ten dollars a person to camp. I'm still figuring out whether or not I'm going to make the trip this year but I'm leaning towards yes. I think that there are some services being offered that charter your trip to and from the festival from Santa Rosa and a few other bay area locations in case you just want to go for the afternoon (at least I saw those last year). I'd say a lot of the most fun for the event is the camping aspect, staying up, and partying with the rest of the camp goers. It can get really loud at night and till very late and you might want to bring a roll of toilet paper as a backup plan for when/if they run out. It seems like it's getting more and more popular each year with plenty of people that are now barely of drinking age and are eager to party the whole night after the festival. Before you head home make sure you and your passengers are all good to go before you take the drive back on 128 or people will be honking at you while you're puking on the side of the road. Bahl hornin.
Lol. You must have been behind me a few years ago. We're planning on leaving between 9 and 10. That should be fine right? Thanks for the TP tip. Sounds like fest goers really like to shit.
Leaving between 9 and 10 should give you more than enough ample time to set up your tents and down a beer or two before the festival assuming you're coming from Santa Rosa. If I make it up I probably won't be able to leave until after 11 at the earliest or sometime after 12 depending on what wineries I do or don't go to for my class field trip that day. The idea of sparkling wine and Pinot noir before a full day of beer sounds a little intense so I guess I might have to do a lot of spitting that morning before driving over the 128. Luckily I will be in the Healdsburg area so I'll already be part way there if I keep driving north. I hope it doesn't rain that weekend.
