Make sure to dry duck it on your second try so you don't lose all those aromatics!

The duck Carcus beer story was AWESOME! But just a reminder, beer goes well with meat, not brewed with meat!

It's a base malt. It's essentially barley toasted as little as possible. It mainly adds alcohol without adding color or body.

6.2%. It's listed at the top of this forum.

When we use the term 'dank' at Breakside, we are either describing something that's cannabis like (which we also might say smells/tastes like ganja, bongwater, nuggy, weedy, pot) or piney (so, also evergreen, pine tar). It's distinct, in my mind, from catty and woody. CTZ and Simcoe together tend to throw a lot dankness IMO.

We're glad to see you representing the PNW in the IPA Fest. Wanderlust is a regular in our beer fridge.

I grew up in Michigan and spent a lot of time in WI and MN too. So, Bell's Two Hearted, Founders Dirty Bastard, and New Glarus Raspberry Tart were the beers that really got me hooked. Love those beers to this day!

I don't know if they're harder to make, but I don't think we could just turn Wanderlust into a Black IPA and have it turn out great. Just like we couldn't make Wanderlust hazy and have it be a great hazy. We don't really make any Black IPAs, so I can't speak to tips and tricks to make great ones, but I do know that Barley Brown's makes some of the best in the world!

Yes-- you get to choose from a variety of different lots that are available. It's a fun process and makes a big difference for us in terms of knowing our raw materials and also helps connect us more directly with the hop growers and the agricultural side of our industry.

I was a high school teacher before I got into brewing professionally and still miss that a little bit!

Thanks Ben & the Breakside team for participating in the fest! I miss living in Portland and having access to your 3 amazing locations. This beer is so good and so clean looking forward to picking this up again!
