Too far away for distance location

I said it has to be “purchased location” - aka the one at the very bottom, not the regular location. Super dumb, I know

Checked Iron Fish distillery website looks like Griner Family Sugar Bush is where the maple syrup comes from.

I enjoyed Joe's story about the artwork. To me the ability to hear from the brewers and hosts' chitchat is the huge benefit of the online event.

I've not attended previous Extreme Beer Fest events but generally this type of interaction it beer events is harder to be exposed to outside of breakout sessions and such.

Below the search box there is another box that says Current Location. Change it to Wilmington, NC and then search Extreme.

We have made a lot of different stouts and feel this recipe has a very full and smooth flavor. We tweaked and dialed this baby right into the sweet spot. Largely achieved through the malt bill and yeast choice.

We aged this beer in oak barrels that contained bourbon, then maple syrup and then bourbon again. The beer naturally picks up flavors of the booze and barrels during the aging process.

If you’re buying, I’m not going to say no. Guinness is a very respectable beer for sure. There are a lot of Guinness lovers at Short’s.

The beer itself was fermented pretty dry, but the barrel character that was picked up during aging process like the vanilla and maple flavors create a perceived sweetness.

We brew and love fresh stouts just as much as barrel aged stouts. It’s all about variety with us and I hope it continues.

9.7% we estimated the original ABV and it turned out a little higher after sitting in the barrels for a while!

Beer City? Whatever city I’m in. One of the benefits about working in the field or traveling about is experiencing where you’re at in the moment. I’ve enjoyed beer in a lot of US states as well as abroad and they’re all different and they all have a story to tell. I love the urban experience as much as I appreciate the off the beaten path honey holes.

Our process is different depending on the source of the barrels. If we’re getting barrels that have been shipped across the country and sense a little stranger danger, we sanitize. If we are picking up freshly dumped barrels from someone we trust like Ironfish and we’re filling them immediately, we just let it rip.
