(Fullerton,CA) - Our most popular and sought after beer returns this week, we’re talking about Knuckle Sandwich DIPA. Beginning this Thursday at our tasting room in Fullerton, CA, those looking for that hop punch upside the head will be able to get what they have comin’ to them.

Knuckle Sandwich DIPA is our rendition of the West-Coast Style Double IPA, bursting with a double dose of American hops, backed by a rich layer of malt to give it that body and smooth mouthfeel.

Brewed originally in 2010, we hit our loyal customers right between the eyes with one of the most delicious beers brewed in all of Orange County. We brew this big bold beer as often as we can, but the minute we are out, the biggest question asked of us is when it will be back. Owner and Head Brewer Aaron Barkenhagen went back in his brewer’s notebook and made some subtle t to bring the beer closer to it’s small batch days on Richman Ave. After sampling this from the brite tank, we are quite amazed at how spot on this batch of Knuckle has turned out.

    Knuckle Sandwich DIPA Facts

    K. Might have to give this one another try. I know the last several batches were spot off. This one "was" spot on when it first came out. The old tasting room had a line everytime when it came out.

Picked up a bottle in June from El Cerrito and it tasted fine to me. Maybe that was a good batch?

Bootleggers must really be throwing some cash around to change their image as the Full Pint also had the press release circulating.

If this actually returns to the 2010/2011 formula and taste, I will go bananas! Gotta get me some of that "cat pee" astringency.

They've been having some bad postings on them lately. I also heard from my local that they have had some bad bottles recently. I hope they get back to the old days when they where at their old tasting room. KS was the sh!te back then. Guess time will tell.

Are bottles available immediatly (and is there a limit)? I have a coworker that lives near by and would like to send him over for a few (+1 for his trouble)

Let us know. The last 4-5 times I have had Knuckle it was not very good. It used to be an excellent beer. I think they changed it.

Bootleggers people have been hyping this release as a "return to the original". Obviously the have vested interest, but they have also never really admitted to issues with the previous batches. We'll see...

If ever there was a brewery in need of a visual branding refresh, Bootlegger's is it. However good the beer is (KS is hit-or-miss, but I've loved Far Out IPA every time), that JV graphic design makes me cringe every time I see it.

Maybe they laser-etched the bottom of their mason jars to highlight the aromas.

personally i don't mind the mason jars. if it's good enough for Lagunitas it's good enough for me.

but yeah, not crazy about the logo or any of their art.

a name like Bootleggers conjures up better imagery and deserves a better logo than the one they have going

I rather they or any brewery focus on making good beer rather then making some cool label. When the label affects how the beer tastes then I would worry about the artwork haha.

i think it goes without saying you want a brewery to make good beer. are we still allowed to talk about the artwork?

Only if the artwork involves fixing the wobbly chair so that I can play Jenga without worrying about the game falling over due to gravity instead of someone else screwing up a block placement.

I still say they need to make those blocks out of foam or something, that way they don't fucking startle the shit out of me every 10 minutes when it falls down.

I'd love to see better artwork from Bootleggers, but fix the beer first.

Go for it!! I just think it's funny how the convo turns to artwork when it was about trying to get the taste back to what it was. Not directed at you just you had the last quote about it on the page at the time

You obviously never had good players since the games I did went 45min+ to the point where being 6'2" was too short to continue the game. But now I know if I ever see a squid there to knock over the blocks every 9 minutes to help you get use to it. =P
