The updated beer list is already looking amazing and only about half the brewers have checked in.

 

Oke I also will be there on Friday!!!! I will drink only the Bourbon beers on Friday and the rest on Saterday!

I was thinking about coming to NL Thursday before the fest so I can be there at noon for the start on Friday without leaving London @ the crack of dawn on Friday. Would anyone be down for meeting up for beers/setting up a tasting on that Thursday night in the Utrect area? I can probably bring some good American/British stuff. I know there was a decent pub Utrect that my British buddies took me to after Borfets where I ticked a bottle DF St Valentine's Gueze. I was blasted at that point. I remember the tick but not the name of the place

Also I need to get some good Indoneasian food on this trip. We don't have that stateside and I didn't endulge on my last trip. Any suggestions in/around the Utrect area?

One of my personal favorites is Indonesia Asli on the Biltstraat 58. No website. It's mostly take out but you can also dine in. It's cheap and authentic... I love it.

I am not sure exactly on my travel plans. My buddy thepeter maybe be coming with me if he gets his visa straightened out. I also know that a bunch of the London Ratebeer guys that he hangs with and I know are going and I may travel with them but there plans are sketchy at best at this point. There is also a chance I might roll solo. So anywhere from 1 to 5 people? LOL. Basically I just wanted to throw the idea out there.

Is there a bar called "the Rat" in Utrect? I think that is the name of the place I went to last year.

Yup that is the spot. I know you hate sours Erik but I may have to stop by there for some Armand Spirit and Vintage DF Gueuze. Is that place good in your opnion? It seemed ok to me but then again I was there at 1:00 AM after 10 hours at a beer fest.

 

I'm starting to think I might be better off booking a hotel in Utrecht rather than Bodegraven. I had a great stay at some place near de Oude Gracht a few years ago, might go back there.

 

I stayed in Utrect last year and the train was quick and easy.

I was also thinking of stopping in Gouda at some point. I love the cheese but is the town cool? Is it worth a stop?

 

Mwah, Gouda is pretty but there is not a whole lot going on there. Get some awesome cheese in downtown Utrecht on the Saturday market. Holland Kaascentrum will let you try all the cheeses you want and can vacuum seal it just in case you wanted to bring some home with you.
