My daughter will be driving to Michigan from Cambridge for the holidays and has offered to bring beer for me. I found a thread from late November with a lot of IPA and DIPA recommendations, but what else should I ask her to look for in any other styles? It needs to be easily available and on store shelves because she won't go to any of the local the breweries for a purchase. What are any recommendations for any New England greats that are easily available in the Boston area?

    Thanks and Cheers!

YouEnjoyMyStout by Cambridge Brewing Co. Seen it all over town in 22oz bottles.

I'll second that vote for YouEnjoyMyStout and add a bunch of my local non-IPA Faves: Mayflower Porter, Jacks Abby Smoke & Dagger, Jacks Abby Saxonator, Jacks Abby Framinghammer, Jacks Abby Barrel Aged Framinghammer, Idle Hands Leather, Night Shift Viva Habenera, Night Shift Somerweiss, Ipswich Oatmeal Stout, Pretty Things Barbapapa, Pretty Things Babayaga, Pretty Things Our Finest Regards, Pretty Things Saint Boltophs Town, Foolproof Raincloud, Slumbrew Attics & Eaves, Slumbrew Yankee Swap, Slumbrew Porter Square Porter. Most of those should all be relatively easy to find in Cambridge shops.

A few more good and easy to find locals:
    Mayflower Oatmeal Stout
Mystic Spectral Evidence Imperial Stout or any of their saisons
    Berkshire Coffeehouse Porter
    Newburyport Belgian White
    Baxter Phantom Punch Stout

Trillium, Trillium, and Trillium. Everything they do is very good to great. They should be available at many bottles shops around Boston. The website has a list of bottle shops, hopefully one is close to her.

Clown Shoes makes some great stouts that are pretty easy to find in local bottle shops (in fact they may be easy to find in your local stores :-) ).

I'll second BBC Coffee House Porter, great beer and very reasonably priced.

As mentioned, it's hard to go wrong with Jack's Abby and Nigh Shift. If she sees Wormtown beers on the shelf those are a safe bet too. They don't make any bad beers. Sweet Tats is out now as well as Norm (both stouts).
