Hop the 57 bus and head to Deep Ellum. Can also walk to Sunset from Kenmore and the Lower Depths is right there. First things off the top of my head.
Lower Depths, although it's not as great (IMO) as it used to be (but that is likely a function of my taste changing). Very solid spot in any event. Eastern Standard is an awesome bar/restaurant and usually has some good beers.
Lower Depths is good but very expensive. Cornwalls always has a few interesting things on tap. Eastern Standard and The Hawthorne have good bottle lists and are 2 of the best cocktails places in the country. Citizen is a good place that will have some local stuff. There is also Beer Works, Yard House, Sweet Cheeks, Audubon.
Make sue to get to Cask n Flagon, Remmy Guy, Whiskeys, maybe take in some Rattlesnake, Liquor store, Tequilla Rain, last stop at the avenue....oh wait?
