    Hello all,

I will be in Boston for a long weekend in a few weeks. Any must-stop beer venues? I will be staying in the city without a car. I am planning on heading to Trillium at some point. My wife doesn't drink beer (boo...), but I am looking for some suggestions for good food and beer selection with some wine and cocktails.

    Thanks in advance!

Lots of other threads out there, but go to Drink for cocktails then cross the street to Row 34 for one of the best beer lists and one of the best seafood restaurants in Boston. Trillium is also right there to pick up cans to go.

Plus one for Row 34 - no cocktails, but some of the best beer, wine, and food in the area (Seaport/Downtown). Stoddard's is another option with a strong cocktail program and a great tap list. If you're looking for pizza in the same area (a block up Congress from Drink and Row 34), Pastoral has solid beer and wine menus.

Row 34 is the best answer. Second on Stoddards too for beer and cocktails. Picco is great for pizza, beer, ice cream and wine. Deep Ellum would fit. As would Russel House Tavern in Harvard Square and Eastern Standard by Fenway. Green Street is solid for beer and cocktails at a very fair price. There are other good cocktail/beer spots in the Central Square area like Craigie on Main, Brick and Mortar and A4cade(an arcade with fun cocktails and decent beer).

Brewer's Fork always has a strong taplist. I can't recommend Row 34 enough it just doesn't serve liquor. You should reserve a table now if you want a good time slot.

Area Four might be that perfect balance you are looking for. Usually a solid beer list, full bar, trendy feel, and the food is good. They opened a new spot in the Southend but the first one is in Cambridge.

Cambridge, just in general, is where I usually direct people to eat since you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a good restaurant or bar.

Trillium opened an outdoor beer garden on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, if you're interested in trying out their beers. Their Fort Point location does not have tastings and Canton is kind of hike if you're just going to be in Boston. The added bonus of the beer garden is that they have wine as well, from Westport (MA) Rivers winery. I've never been but buddies of mine says its great.

I have found that many bars and restaurants in the area have really stepped up their game when it comes to beer lists (sort of a "rising tide raises all boats").

Deep Ellum won Boston Magazine's Best Beer Bar this year, and has a great cocktail program and good food as well. Just up the street is Lulu's, which has been getting a lot of taplist love on here lately.

When I lived in Brookline, Publick House was a great neighborhood bar with an International tap list.

Thanks everyone so far for the suggestions. I take that it won't be hard to find some good spots!

Trillium Beer Garden is a must. What's better than drinking great beer outdoors on a nice day?
    Second or third on Stoddard's.

Are you staying near the water or in the back bay (which isn't on the water, despite the name)? Or in Cambridge? Makes a difference.

Then definitely check out Stoddards for beers. And take the wife to Yvonne's for cocktails, probably the coolest cocktail bar in town and right around the corner/down an alley from Stoddards.

Be sure to check out JM Curley's - cool spot w/decent draft list & good food, especially their burger.

And right across the street from Stoddard's!

I'm partial to beers/drinks at Stoddard's and dinner at either Silvertone or JM Curley's. Wings and mac & cheese at the former, burger at the latter. Silvertone used to always have Meadowlark on tap which was a treat.

Just spent a week in Boston, explored several bars and breweries.

Lulus was my favorite beer bar, excellent selection. Tip Tap House was very good as well, albeit expensive. Enjoyed Lord Hobo as well, definitely more of an old school feel to it. No complaints on Stoddards either, cool place with a good selection. Merchant had good food and beer.

Deep Ellum was a bit disappointing, selection wasn't nearly as good as Lulus and wasn't a fan of the bar itself. Meadhall had a large selection, not particularly interesting choices though.

Food at Row 34 is amazing, wouldn't go there just for beer though unless they had something very specific I wanted.

Trillium Beer Garden is a must stop, never had much of an issue with lines.

Really liked Idle Hands and Night Shift, highly recommended. Cambridge had some good sours.

Think the best beer I had in Boston was Singlecut DDH Bon Bon out of New York.
