I'll be heading to Boston for 5 nights starting on Friday for business, I'll have some time for beer exploring. Most of my work is at the Convention Center, so Friday I plan to hit Harpoon as it looks like I can walk there from the Convention Center.

My hotel is close to Stoddard so I plan to hit that one night. Seems like a lot of the better places are in Cambridge, and not opposed to taking a taxi out there. Lord Hobo, Cambridge Brewing, and Meadhall.

Am I missing anything or are there any must hits that I have included?

    Thanks!

    cambridge brewing company = best.

lord hobo and mead hall both great (don't believe the mead hall bashing; they have some absurd prices on random beers, but all told it's a great establishment).

    deep ellum great.

i want to go to trillium. haven't yet. if you can, i bet it's worth it.

Looks like Trillium is very close to the convention center, I can hit that and Harpoon in one swoop.

Definitely hit up Trillium. You can get growler fills of seven of their offerings currently, which is the most they've had so far. Unfortunately they're still not allowed to pour tastings there yet.

You're lucky you're close to Stoddard's. Seriously my favorite beer bar in Boston and the food is amazing too.

Be prepared that Trillium is growler only and the growlers are not returnable, so it can be kinda pricey for an out of towner.

I'll second this. Just be warned that there's nothing to do at Trillium other than get growler fills...although a solo growler in a hotel room sounds pretty awesome.

And yea, I feel like Stoddard's doesn't get enough talk on here. Great bar

If you're close to Stoddards you're close to the Tip Tap room, I love that spot. GREAT beer selection and awesome food. Well worth the 5-10 minute walk!

I went to Trillium for the first time the other day, cool place, chill people and great beer. They can't do tastings (yet), and you can't return the growlers ($5 a piece) but you can swap out 64 and 32 oz. I would highly recommend the Congress St. IPA, probably the best IPA I've had out of MA (tied with Julius even though they're different IPAs). The saisons are excellent too.

Can anyone tell me if it's walkable from South Station to Harpoon, or should I figure on a cab?

It's not so bad,I think a 25 minute walk, I've done it probably 4 times or so to that area

I would grab a 64oz of Trillium Congress St IPA. It's amazing and you will not be disappointed. As others have mentioned JM Curley and Stoddard's are fine choices to sit down and eat and drink quality beer.

    Saturday - Work dinner stuff
Sunday -Cambridge area: CBC, Meadhall and/or Lord Hobo
    Monday -Stoddard and JM Curley
    Tuesday - Publick House

I've been lurking here since some friends and I will be in Boston this weekend too.
Also figuring on hitting Harpoon on Friday, late afternoon or early evening.
Look for a group of 5 50ish guys from Philly. One bears a strong resemblance to Andy Reid.

Good plan; for sure hit up JM Curley, they have one of the best burgers in the city right now. If you are looking for places to eat around the convention center you are way better off sticking to the area closer to South Station. Blue Dragon has some great eats a few solid beers on tap from time to time. Sportello for the the best pasta bolognese in the city and really solid coffee at Great Barrington on Congress Street as well; you also have Thinking Cup for coffee if you are staying around JM Curley / Stoddards. Have a great trip.
