hello fellow BA'ers. I would normally look at older threads, but TH is in a different location, I figured I'd ask for help...I'm coming in from NJ on Friday..should I go to Trillium first and then over to Th around 1? Hotel with parking suggestions? Sightseeing priorities? Dinner? Celebrating my birthday NE style. Thanks in advance!! Also if I can help with anyone looking for NJ brews let me know
Are you planning to stay in Boston? If so Trillium is an hour+ drive PAST Treehouse, then you would have to drive an hour plus BACK to Treehouse, then an hour+ back to Boston. So unless you really like driving I would go to Treehouse first....
I don't think TH's new location makes info in older threads obsolete. They moved two towns over and are still near the 90/84 split. Are you going to Trillium first because you are flying into Boston? If you are driving, it would be really inefficient to drive past Tree house and then drive back to it. Driving anywhere around Boston on a Friday makes me want to drill a hole in my head anyways.
I wouldn't stay in Boston proper if you're not looking to pay double the price for a hotel. I would say to do Tree House first, then head to Trillium in Canton. I did a trade with somebody recently staying at the Sheraton Four Points on Rt. 1 in Norwood, which isn't too far away. Not the most scenic area, but there are some food options, and Castle Island brewing is almost across the street. If you have any good Kane cans (Sea Cow?), Sunday Brunch, or recent Other Half I would be down for a trade - shoot me a msg!
I just did this and it depends on where you're staying and how you're getting to Boston from NJ. If you're driving, then you would hit TH first, then it's another ~40min east to Trillium's Canton location. Follow TH on twitter so you know what the status is for can availability. I took the train into Boston, and rented a car...drove home with a trunk full of beer. Highly recommend Airbnb as hotels in Boston are pricey this time of year.
It really depends on what you're looking to spend and what you're looking to do. If Boston vacation is foremost, then I would totally stay in town. Nine Zero Hotel has a central location, stayed there for my anniversary and the service and room were great, if a little city noise. Hotel Marlowe is also pretty decent location, might be a little cheaper. I like Kimpton hotels. Sights: Boston Common and Public Gardens, North End, greenway, Copley Square, Charles River esplanade. Boating on the Charles whether by kayak, sailboat, or Duck Boat gives you lots of great views. Harbor cruise or ferry to one of the harbor islands is also really nice. Row 34 is a good seafood restaurant with a great beer list and it is right near Trillium beer garden and Fort Point. South End has a high concentration of good restaurants as well. If all you care about is beer, then you might want to do one of the beer bus tours. Or you could stay in Framingham and hit Jack's Abby, Springdale, Exhibit A, and John Harvard's apparently has a really good brewer out there.
