I'm betting the bar-tender did it for him -- they've done it for me.

In the 80s we owned a child's picture booklet with a version of the "Ballad of John Barleycorn" poem that I read many times with my first son, who thought it was fun. I also had a worn Traffic "john Barleycorn" LP that I also played for him. I eventually bought a reissue CD with "bonus" tracks that, for me, detracted from the listening experience, in spite of the clean sound.

If you at the right bar stool, you can often see the sink under the bar in the mirror. Just pour over the far edge of the bar.

    Alternately, there's the scenario:
"Hey, check it out - that dude just walked into the men's room with his beer!"
"And seconds later, he's walking out again with an empty glass!"

My preference has always been to leave the 90% full glass of beer on the bar and walk out muttering "...never comin' back to this joint...". Doesn't solve the problem, costs me money (sometimes) but it gives me a fleeting sense of satisfaction.

Well, that sure beats the opposite possibility... :grimacing:

Still, easier to clean up that the above "on the floor" suggestion and if there was any legal problem, well, Daddy just came into some cash...

Well, I did it. I bought and enjoyed Sam Adams Remasterd Boston Lager. Fittingly from Sam the Beer Man in Binghamton, NY. And found myself apologizing when asking if they had any, that in itself is more telling of me than anything I guess.

To those of you familiar with my voluminous beer ratings I will not bore you with the typical in depth analysis.

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/user/beers/

And at the risk of being repetitive this beer is a Remastered gem. Brighter, Easier Drinking, and Complex in a distinct way yet with a Smooth Finish. Extremely smooth in the finish. Quite bright. I drank a full bottle in under 5 minutes and you better believe, this is on Easy Drinking beer. Never before have I finished of the old mastered Boston Lager so quickly.
Color is both Amber and Golden at once.

    Or, not terrible.
Doesn't hit the spot for me because there is still way to much C-60 for my liking.

I don't imagine this is answering any questions in the market but what do I know?

Next I plan to review New and Improved Tide Pods. My understanding is the same crack team has worked up a clever new marketing campaign and it will invigorate the market, so watch out.

    Cheers

I think they did an excellent job with this! To me it has a drier mouthfeel and a more Pilsner like flavor.

So, they've also chosen Michigan for the trial? Thought it was only New York, but good that you got to try it.

Motivated by the "old reliable" beer thread, I bought a fresh 12 pack of Boston Lager today. It is not the remastered version and it tastes really good to me. It is a viable candidate for my new "old reliable"...

I always like Boston Lager. Easy drinking and, for a while at least, an oasis in many a BMC desert. That said, I rarely bought a six pack of the stuff. Hell, is it possible I never actually bought a six pack of it. Noble Pils on the other hand, now that I bought a lot of.

My 2ยข as a member of the test market, I have a similar experience with Brooklyn Lager and Brooklyn Brewery's Pilsner. If I want a Vienna Lager I want something like the previous Boston Lager recipe or Brooklyn Lager. If I want an easier-going, crushable craft lager i'll look for a Pilz or even an Adjunct.

Boston Lager is the ultimate old standby along with SNPA.

I will try the new version if I find it but I don't get messing with a classic. The new Winter Lager sucked - too light and too bitter (and I like bitter but not ALL THE DAMN TIME).

The shame for me is that my favorite Sam Adams beers are the ones that are either no longer brewed or barely available. I wish that they brought back the following to, at least, seasonal regularity and maybe even considered releasing them in cases.

    Boston Ale
    Double Black Lager
    Fezzi
    Holiday Porter
    Irish Red
    Noble Pils
    Scotch Ale
    Winter Lager (old school style)

And, before anyone states it in a response. Yes, I am a grump old man (so stay off my lawn).

Of the list you generate Boston Ale us still being produced but some reason not available in my (our?) area. So for all intents and purposes unavailable here.

    Cheers!

I look forward to trying this and giving it a fair shake.

But, more importantly, BBC, please stop "remastering" beers and just bring back Noble Pils already. The best beer they've ever made, and I miss it greatly!

I dont think so, everything is already so hoppy in the world. Leave Boston lager alone. Furthermore unless someone is suffering from the lupulin shift, there is still some nice hops in it.
