Boston Magazine Malt Madness brackets

Something funky is definitely going on with Trill and TH about to be bounced for two breweries I've never heard of. Also shocking that Down the Road is crushing Aeronaut. Aeronaut is fine, but I've never had one remotely enjoyable beer from Down the Road.

Maybe people are thinking about taprooms in their decisions.

 

Not that hard to figure out when smaller breweries are promoting the contest via social media with links to vote, the big dogs are not.

 

The fact that CBC lost to Down the Road should tell you all you need to know about this.

Also, yes. All it takes is one brewery/fan base to care about it on social media, as with any of these tournament style voting brackets (some mid-low level rock band with a rabid fanbase beating Rolling Stones or some shit, whose members nor fans couldn't give two shits about an online voting tournament)
That being said, if Trillium and Treehouse did end up losing to Element and Untold, that would be slightly amusing. Can't wait for the trolling to begin in the TH thread.

When you look at how quickly some of the votes have changed it's pretty clear people are gaming it somehow.

 

Element is better than Tree House. It definitely doesn't sit on the shelf at Total Wine at all.

 

Element isn't better than Brick & Feather, either, and they knocked B&F off in the 1st round.

What a goofy bracket. It's like making a March Madness bracket and having WPI and Brandeis knock off UNC and Duke in consecutive games.

i think the finals is gonna be spencer vs bad martha...because those 2 are the worst of the bunch, IMO.

 

Hope that it's Idle Hands vs Notch so that they do another collaboration beer.

 

Was that Wooooo! or was there another one? First time I went to Notch Wooooo! was on draft, but I figured it was just a guest beer. Regardless, that beer was awesome and needs to come back.

 

It was Wooooo! I would welcome that again, but I'd love to see what else they can cook up.

 

Sites where you can vote multiple times by refreshing the page are prone to algorhythms that can basically just refresh a page quickly and allow you to just click, click, click, click.

 

I put a vote in for Hank the Angry Drunken Dwarf (sorry. dating myself again). For you youngsters, Howard Stern once urged his listeners to vote for Hank in the online version of Most Beautiful People for People Magazine..and he won by a landslide.

He also totally skewed a season of American Idol (when it was actually still a big deal), championing someone terrible to like 6th place.

Bad Martha isn't even the best brewery on Martha's Vineyard. Their beer is garbage. Must have bots voting.

 

I had a 508 IPA from Bad Martha and it was literally malt madness.

 

Bad Martha is a nice spot to stop for a beer while on a bike ride between Oak Bluffs and Edgartown. Pretty little set up. Beers were unremarkable, though. The helles and pils were decent, but I didn't care for the others. I much prefer Offshore beers.
