Thanks! Any suggestions for aime hazy IPAs, if they sell cans, thats a plus. Figured I would atop by Trillium but any other suggestions? Also, been looking on the NE forum the past few days to try and get suggestions for the trip. i see some folks arent too fond of Trillium, just curious, whats all the hate from? Is there somewhere else in Boston you recommend I check out instead?

Trillium pissed of the mob when the changed their yeast I guess and it came out they weren’t providing a living wage for retail employees. The beer is still great. I had a great time at Trillium Fort Point when I was up there last week. If you have the chance make the hour trip outside the city to Treehouse. That was a one of my favorite beer experiences. Just class from bottom to top over there.

I found it funny that this (and a number of other complaints, product-wise and business-wise) didn't affect anyone's buying habits. I find it easy to cancel things like this out of my life. Founders? Racist. Okay, don't buy them; Trillium, see above, okay, I won't buy their stuff; Ryan Adams, dirtbag musician. Okay, don't listen to his music. So easy. There are so many other breweries. Go to those places.

Piggybacking off of this, I’ll be there in two weeks with kids for 3 days before driving up to Portland for the rest of the week. I’ll do my best to make it some of the aforementioned taprooms but know it will be tough with kids, so was curious if there are any good, widely available NE IPAs that I’ll be able to easily find at stores.

Other advice I’m looking for is if there are any worthy spots to stop for food and beer on the drive from Boston to Portland. Thanks!

A good spot for beer/food that is kid-friendly on the way from Boston to Portland is When Pigs Fly in Kittery, ME. Definitely get a loaf or two of fresh bread if you stop. It's great stuff.

There is no shortage of good NEIPAs on the shelf in stores around here.
    New England breweries:
Mystic, Idle Hands, Exhibit A, Proclamation, Burlington Beer Co, Fiddlehead, Lamplighter, Resilience, Notch/ Voll Projekt, Springdale, Lone Pine, Fort Hill, Castle Island, Night Shift, Vanished Valley, Lawson’s, Foley Brothers, Foundation.

I assume you’re looking for stuff you can’t get at home. There are a bunch of other good East Coast NEIPA brewers you might want to try that I don’t believe have national distribution:
SingleCut, Grimm, Sloop, Finback, Foreign Objects, Captain Lawrence.

Too many individual beers to list. If in doubt, ask the store what came in recently.

Depending on where you're staying, Fort Point Market (next to Row 34 and a short walk from Trillium in the Seaport) is one of the best shops in the city. Good selection, reasonable prices, and I think they allow single cans(?).

I might be a little biased as a former resident, but Portsmouth NH is a great town to visit depending how mobile the kiddos are. Grab sandwiches at Googies on State St. and explore Prescott Park/Strawberry Bank. Lots of breweries in the area - Stoneface is my personal favorite in terms of breadth and depth of styles, definitely kid friendly, and a very reasonably priced food menu.

Entirely untrue. I used to be there every week or 2, have only been back once since the dustup for a growler of Super Secret Stairs. I switched almost all my Trill purchases into Springdale and Exhibit A purchases, and I promise you I'm not the only one.

Lots of places mentioned but not with kids in mind so I'll vouch for CBC. They've got some kid friendly items (buffalo chicken tenders, pizza) and if that doesn't work out, there's Smoke Shop (BBQ) and Mamaleh's (Jewish Deli) in the same complex as options. It'll be much more chill than some other places that tend to get very crowded, especially on weekends (not sure what days you'll be in Boston).
I haven't bought a Trill product since (full disclosure: I have had Trill products and they were as underwhelming as before I left the Boston area). I have had, for example, Exhibit A's The Cat's Meow and I will go on the record as saying as it's better than anything Trillium has to offer at the moment. I was super excited about the new spot, but I haven't given a second thought about visiting since the wage issue. For the most part, it's the product or really the commitment to the product right now.

Would love to hear perspectives on where to stop to pick up Notch, Von Trapp and other lagers/zwickels/pils on a day trip to Boston - Back Bay area plus Uberable distances appreciated.

For stores between Boston and Portland, there is a large selection of NEIPAs at Spruce Creek Provisions in Kittery, ME or Oak Hill Beverage in Scarborough, ME.

Urban Grape or Bauer Wine and Spirits should be convenient.

Country boy questions - I assume Seaport Boulevard is pedestrian friendly?
Thinking of impromptu stay at the Renaissance.
How would I navigate to the Aquarium and Children’s Museum? Take the car or public transportation.

Seaport Boulevard is very pedestrian friendly. Children's Museum is a 10-15 min pleasant walk from the Renaissance. The aquarium is a longer walk, probably 20-30 minutes, but equally as pleasant, as most of it is on the greenway. If you aren't walker friendly, I'd take an uber to the aquarium as there isn't much public transit that will get you there easier than walking. Enjoy your stay!

No beer program to speak of though, and wait can be hours long. But if there's a short wait and you're not looking for beer, it's quite good and cheap.

Where are you staying in Back Bay? Urban Grape is a great option; they sell everything as singles as well if you want to mix and match (and you can just buy one, no "must buy six" nonsense)
