yeah I snapped a few of the wide lipped bottles before I learned that trick too! just pop the inserts out with a butter knife and flip em. This allows you to use the 29mm bottles as well!

    To close out this story.

The entire batch was over carbonated, so I mis-read my nomograph or my scale or made some other error along the way. It happens.

I had an empty tap-a-draft jug so I decided to open the remaining bottles and pour them in there. Of the 12 bottles, 1 exploded, 8 were gushers, and 3 opened without gushing but were still over carbonated for the style.

After pouring them into the tap-a-draft and pulling a couple of pints out I applied the CO2 cartridge, and I have a reasonably drinkable holiday ale.

Today I ordered some supplies from my online home brew shop and we'll get to the spring and summer brews shortly.

Thanks for the advice on this troublesome batch.

    Happy Trails!
