I am making a huge american flag out of bottle caps 5 feet by 3 feet (1700 Caps total). I am finally finishing backyard after Super Storm Sandy and wanted a great piece represented by USA Breweries.

Ive come here looking for any advice on what other caps might be out there (RED, BLUE, WHITE/SILVER, GOLD/YELLOW). There is a list below of the ones I have already.

Sierra Nevada, Flagship, Bear Republic, Heavy Seas, Fulton, Back Forty, Schlafly, Ballast Pt, Northcoast,
Two Roads, Greenport, Atwater, Barrel House, Bridgeport, Thirsty Planet, Fire Island

    BLUE
Bud Light, Victory, Sweetwater, Big Sky, Summit, Grand Teton, Natural Light, Busch, Blue Moon, Full Sail,
Central Waters, Lake Placid, Twisted Tea, Rolling Rock, Sam Adams, Abita, Free State, Switchback, Beach Haus, Thimble Island, Firestone

    Bruery, Lost Coast, Dundee, Squatters

Im sure there are plenty more im forgetting or cant even think of. Was also trying to get one brewery from each state and missing a few.

    STATES MISSING
Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Oklahoma
Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, West Virginia

Any advice anyone can provide would be great. Thanks so much.

    Here's a link to a thread from 2013 that might help. http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/red-white-or-blue-bottle-caps.121724/#post-1785482

I also recall a project like this in a thread from 2-3 months ago but I can't find it. It must not have used a hint of the project in the thread's title and is buried in a general discussion about cap projects.

You can also purchase caps in homebrew stores or online shops in various solid colors if a graphic is not necessary for your project. (Although some do have graphics too.)

Sierra Nevada Celebration caps might be good with the red, heck they do all the colors you need. I like Caldera Brewing's white crowns with their logo.

Is your goal to get all different caps?

Are you looking for beers to drink from those states you're missing or just a few caps? I could easily drop a few Indiana caps into the mail for you if that's all you want.

Was gonna help you out, but you seem to be ahead of me on the color schemes. I am getting ready to do a VA map from bottle caps and I look forward to starting............

If you trade Iowa and Indiana can be in silver with TG and flat 12.

Hi. I don't want to p**s on your parade and I genuinely wish you well, however, there are a few of the states that are tough to find branded beer caps from, e.g. North Dakota (try Dakota Brewing Co), Oklahoma (try Mustang Brewing Co or Artisans Brewing Co) and so it is not impossible but very challenging. However there is one state, the southern neighbour of ND - South Dakota that is nigh on impossible to find. For the other states I might recommend that you do specific ebay searches for 'beer bottle caps xx' where 'xx' is the name of the state. Alternatively you should Google search for 'breweries in xx' (where 'xx' is the name of the state). You will sooner of later find most of them but SD will be your biggest challenge unless one of the breweries there, like Miner Brewing Co, Sick N' Twisted, Crow Peak, Dakota Chivers.....start to issue branded crowncaps. Good luck with your art piece. Please post a picture once it is finished.

It's funny, I had just picked up a six of Sunshine over the weekend and thought of this thread as I opened the first one.

......but unfortunately despite the miles that I travelled and breweries that I visited I didn't find any SD caps. However, like all good fairy-tale quests, my story has a happy ending as, shortly after returning home, I actually found and bought an old SD beer cap on ebay (Black Hills Brewing Co - now closed).

Alltech out of Lexington, Kentucky, uses various colors of caps including white, silver, and gold.

As for Arkansas, I'm afraid you're screwed. Only a few breweries bottle, and as far as I know, the two that use something other than generic bottle caps both use black (Core and Diamond Bear). Flyway bottles bombers, but I don't know what the caps look like.

Oh, and Fairhope (AL) uses a variety of colors including red and blue. Also, Back Forty (Gadsden, AL) uses silver.

And I just thought of another from Alabama: Straight to Ale uses a deep red bottle cap.

I think you're SOL for Mississippi. Lazy Magnolia uses gold caps. The other breweries I know there only use cans. Good luck.

Not much has changed in South Dakota. My friends stopped at 6 breweries & stores today while driving to Yellowstone and did not find one state bottle cap.
