not sure if this is where this belongs but i have searched the sight over and this looks to be about the best place.

I'm am currently constructing a wooden American flag for the one and only brewery in my small hometown and just thought about it today of doing bottle caps as the the stars but i would like to use one from each of the 50 states. i have torched the wood and used a nylon bristle wheel to knock down the soft grain to distress it and stained it the red white and blue. If anyone could help me in this matter i would greatly appreciate it and i will post pics once it is finished. I am willing to pay for them and shipping or meet near by I live close to Jacksonville, Fl.

Welcome to the BA site, mds169. You're in the right forum to get started, but some members may want to create a trade in the Brewerania trading forum.

Do you want these caps to be mostly white since they will represent the flag's stars? I'll try to help you out using my duplicates for nothing in return, but I don't know how many I'd be able to give you if white is a requirement.

not really worried about them being white as the flag itself is very rustic looking. i have a back up plan but would really like to use the idea of a cap per state. any help would be greatly appreciated and i am willing to compensate.

Okay, I'll have to match my extra caps to state locations where I don't recall that info, and then I will let you know what I can give you. Do you have a deadline?

I just sent out a bunch of caps to someone but have 20 or 30 you are more than welcome to have. Shoot me a BM with your shipping info and I will get them out probably right after Christmas.

I can help with caps from 10 states:
CA (or NC) - Sierra Nevada (Narwhal brand graphic)
    CO - New Belgium
    DE - Dominion
IL- Goose Island (Bourbon County brand graphic)
    IN - Three Floyds
    MD - Flying Dog
    MI - Bell's
    OH - Fat Heads
    PA - Weyerbacher
    VA - Devils Backbone

Pick and choose if you want to since Goose Island and Sierra Nevada are not the classic logo designs of these two breweries, or take all of them. Send me a PM with your address and I'll get them mailed soon.

Which states do you still need after the above? Would welcome an excuse to dive through my duplicates.

Hi mds169--it sounds like an awesome project.

Just for your reference, I attempted to collect beer caps from all 50 states a couple years ago and though most states have caps readily available, as of a year ago the states of North Dakota, South Dakota and West Virginia seemingly did not have any beers which had bottle caps with graphics in production (their craft brews all come in cans). I was able to track down an older cap for both West Virginia (circa 2010) and North Dakota (1960s era) but was never able to get a cap for South Dakota. You can find more information about my quest in this Breweriana forum post here: https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...virginia-north-dakota-or-south-dakota.542185/.

Also, I likely have some caps I can send once you figure out what you still need--just let me know. Good luck!

I suppose you could always put a blank cap or some sort of placeholder (such as a double from a nearby state) for any states you can't find. The other 47 states I didn't mention should have caps readily available anyway.

I will have to do a little checking around the house, but I'm pretty sure I have the following doubles left over from my previous state cap collection which I could arrange to send you if you'll spot me for postage or a beer or something:

    Alabama - Back Forty
    Alaska - Alaskan
    Arkansas - Diamond Bear
    Califorinia - Sierra Nevada; Anchor
    Florida - Cigar City
    Georgia - SweetWater
    Hawaii - Kona
    Illinois - Goose Island
    Louisiana - Abita; Bayou Teche
    Maryland - Flying Dog
    Massachusetts - Samuel Adams
    Mississippi - Lazy Magnolia
    Montana - Big Sky
    Nevada - Great Basin
    New York - Brooklyn
    North Carolina - Highland
    Ohio - Great Lakes
    Oklahoma - Prairie; Choc
    Pennsylvania - Rolling Rock; Yuengling
    Texas - Shiner; Lone Star
    Utah - Wasatch
    Virginia - Devil's Backbone
    Washington - Redhook
    Wisconsin - Leinenkugels

I think there are a few repeats from what others mentioned above, but I was just going through the 50 states and naming what I've got. Some extras from other states may turn up as well once I gather everything together. Just let me know and I'll send them--cheers!

P.S. For your reference, for anything you can't get here, thebottlecapman.com is a good place to get some otherwise hard-to-find states for a dollar or two per cap typically. I found a few others on eBay. Also www.seekabrew.com/distro/index.html can give you an idea of what beers you should be able to buy in which state. This and what others have mentioned should give you a good start.
