SN uses some crazy system. http://www.sierranevada.com/images/Date_Code_06.pdf Edit: for help decoding: http://www.scp.byu.edu/docs/doychart.html
I read this. However, there seems to be no laser etched date on the bottle. There are numbers on the lower part of the bottle and on the bottom.
I hate crazy date codes. Why can't they all just put a straight "bottled on" or "best by" date? Or hey, nothing at all...
I couldn't find anything either after spending like 10 minutes at Vons trying a code while people looked at me funny. Wish more breweries would put an easy to read date on the label.
perhaps it's only on the carton. Next time I go to Trader Joes, I will look. There were some numbers etched near the bottom of the glass, and also on the bottom. Not sure...
Since SN moved from having the date on the label to painting it on the glass I'd say 10-15% of the SN bottles I've bought (and I buy plenty) are undated. I suspect that if the date painter screws up they don't shut down the line to fix it, just keep cranking. When they're there they're hard to miss, they're up near the neck.
I just bought a 6 pack last week and had no problem finding it on the neck. Admittedly, I prefer it on the label because that seems more reliable but since I don't buy Celebration in anything less than a 12-pack, I'm not worried.
thanks for clarifying this. I don't see a date. There is a 43 on the bottom. Not sure what that means, and numbers on the lower edge.
The date is printed on the bottle itself now - on or near the shoulder of the bottle I believe, not the bottom of the bottle. The first 3 numbers is the julian date.
I don't see a problem about not having a date. It's only been in stores a few weeks, and it's not a hop-forward beer. I'll last plenty long for it to be consumed. I just wish it was available year round.
Negative. The first number is the last digit of the year (should be "2"). Spaces 2, 3 and 4 account for the Julian date.
You are correct sir. Got Lagunitas on the brain as its just about only thing that's been fresh around here in a couple of months.
