Yea, but those examples aren't like what BL does at all. It's like trying a BA stout with vanilla when its aged 6 months in the barrel instead of a year. I thought the early FO tasted great! And I'm pretty sure BL used the expedition station to help decide which to bottle in the upcoming year, which is a great way to get feedback. I'll be seriously surprised if we don't see Paisley at least after how much people loved it.

But I guess enjoying really really good beer with my friends instead of whining about how it's "unfinished" makes me a fanboy. So be it!

    Fan boys, really?

Sure its not people knowing that they are trying early pours of a beer, are comfortable with the price and satisfied with the result?

I get that for you the price point doesn't work, and you have no interest in early pours to see how a beer is developing. But to assume your fellow BA's are just blindly supporting BL seems like a bit of a leap.

So...I saw pictures of a traffic collision outside on the street in front of BL and was told that the driver was later charged with a DUI.

I then saw another photo of a car parked out front of BL on saturday, appeared to be the same car since it was missing the front bumper. Perhaps it was and the individual spent the night in the drunk tank....but then I wonder about the whole car thing. Either way...hilarious that someone decided to drink too much and earn themselves not only a stamp but a DUI (again, cannot confirm..only saw pictures and an update from an individual on the situation). Also hilarious that a car without a front bumper was driven to BL, be it the same vehicle or not...pretty sure that isn't legal in CA....but not too sure. Obviously some quality individuals. =P

Edit: Uber is not that hard....even a hardcore introvert like myself will use it.

Regarding Bottle Logic selling "unfinished" beer: Sure. We're paying for it, but I also see it as BL letting people try and decide before things are bottled up and giving themselves notes on the beer. Nothing felt "unfinished" so much as just more time needed on some of the beers. With us tasting these beers, we can at least know which ones we will and will not buy. Much better than blindly buying everything they make.

If you've noticed, the only real complaints were that most beers were a bit flat, or a bit hot, or both.

This was way better ran than last year too. The way it was run, line management, all of that.

This heated debate boils down to one thing...if you don’t want to spend money on “unfinished beer”, then don’t. It’s not like they weren’t offering finished beers. Some of the unfinished projects weren’t very good, but now I know more going into potential bottles sales than I did before.

While we’re on the subject, if people are bothered by this, I’m surprised they aren’t bothered by BL selling pours out of low fill bottles. To me, this is actually a not so great practice.

When a bottle is low-filled and isn’t capped on foam, there’s a great chance the beer has a ton of DO (dissolved oxygen). This will begin to oxidize the beer immediately and also affect the CO2 presence in the beer. Barrel aged beers have a slightly higher tolerance for DO than do others styles like IPA’s. But low-fill bottles are rarely a true representation of what the beer was intended to be. But I’ve never been there when they do this to see just how low the fills are. On an unrelated note, I’m not sure how it works from tax standpoint either. But it would seem odd to be able to make money selling beer that should be written off as operational loss. But again, I’m not entirely sure how that all works. I don’t want to come across like I am demonizing their business model. They’ve done a stellar job making beer thus far, so something’s obviously working. Lord knows they know more about running a business than I do.

I've noticed that the low fill pours are sold at a slight discount and they are served very shortly after the bottling run. Doesn't seem like that big of a deal too me.

All this shade being thrown back and forth.... Had to check if I was in BL or Bruery thread.

Side Question: Is this the same husky I saw in a tailored hawaiian shirt @ Green Cheek on Saturday afternoon?

Unsure if this process is related to a beer becoming oxidized or not being I'm not a chemist. But if so, I've only experienced these situations with beers aged for a long period of time (3+ years). Never had a negative experienced with anything fresh off the line.

When a beer is filled to the appropriate height and crowned on foam, it’s much more shelf stable. If a bottle is filled say half way, that beer is going to have so much DO left in the bottle that it will begin to oxidize immediately. It won’t be undrinkable a day or so later. But it will absolutely not be shelf stable.

Let the record show we pour low-fills the day they're bottled; rare remains are sent home with the team as spoils of war.
