Agreed, I was surprised to show up Saturday and find that 6/7 FC beers were still available for pours plus Lost Coordinates...needless to say my wife drove home.

Top 3 for me too, it was excellent once it got near room temp

Man, I really wasn’t a fan of Lost Coordinates. The raisin was too present for me and there was this cherry-like notes that I just didn’t appreciate. I have found that many of their stouts are just too sweet and they don’t pull me in as much as they used to. I still frequent BL but I often grab something different.

The yuzu hanamachi on tap was so damn good. Hoping that or green tea hanamachi get canned. Also glad Hanamachi is always available now

Damn, this is what I was afraid of. I was going to wait until the EB sale to pick up a couple. Maybe just grab one now (you know, for science).

I'm with you on the sweetness thing. These new thiccer, sweeter stouts they've been churning out are bumming me out.

I didn't really think it to be too sweet. I'm with you on the cherry like flavor though. That was the first thing that popped out to me. I think it overpowered the vanillas. Still enjoyed it.

Wanted to also add that the Moscow Mule inspired seltzer is probably one of the best seltzers I've ever had. That and the Yuzu hanamachi were the 2 best beers from Emo Weekend IMO.

Had anyone heard anything about Week of Logic? I know Lindsey said something earlier about perhaps staring next Saturday but they typically would’ve said something by now lol

I believe on a recent IG post they alluded to the fact that WOL is not happening at this time - sounded like they were not able to get the permits and other logistics in place for a late March event.

I'm bummed to confirm that we won't be hosting a Week of Logic this March. We start working on WoL beers/merch/design/overall plans the November prior to the "annual" March event, and the pandemic stats in November 2021 were painting a pretty grim picture of the months ahead so we elected to hold.

I'm so heartened to see people returning to the Tasting Room in numbers, and to see other breweries taking their festivals live again. I couldn't have pulled off a WoL I'd have been proud of by the time numbers were trending in our favor, so we'll be hosting several mini-events over the summer (and in theoretical perpetuity) before reviving the WoL experience next year.

If, like me, you're encouraged by having something exciting on the horizon, know that this summer's Fundamental Observation release is going to be unlike any other. I'm eyeing the full week of 7/10 - 7/16, but the barrels have a bit more time to age before I ask them to really start speaking.

We're also about to launch an entirely new product line of Barrel Aged Cocktail-inspired ales -- think of them like sophisticated versions of our Smoothie Sours. Keep an eye out for "Lightning in a Bottle" news on our social channels!

Ghost Proton is returning on Saturday. Going to have to make sure I stock the hell up on this batch. Had no idea at the time it would be 2 years before it dropped again.

Seems like BL releases have lost their appeal to most. Yesterday At my local bottle shop i manged to grab Lost Coordinates with one or two left. If it were same time last year they woulda been gone .

what do you mean by this? In the taproom?
I think covid really fucked people and breweries up.

I mean, we are 4 months into 2022 and A LOT of brewery pages [ west coast] are barely at 20-30 POSTS . I was never a big fan of BL but do enjoy an ipa from them now and again even if i only buy them cuz there's nothing else that catches my eye at bottle shops.

I for one am stoked I can always find BL releases now, especially if I want one a month or more after initial release. Hell the liqour store closest to my house still has some 2020 releases on their shelves.

Seems to me they've been able to increase production drastically without really compromising quality, especially on the BA stout side of things, which seems to have killed the hype and secondary market of their beers. Doesn't mean they're not good or appealing, just means its much more widely available than, say, March-May 2020 when I had to go retail-hunting for extra HH/PCC b2 bottles via IG notifications from the bottle shops around me.

FWIW, I was there earlier that same Saturday and the line was out the door at 2-3 o'clock, just as I remembered it pre-pandemic, but agreed that craft brewing as a whole has seen a downturn largely caused by the pandemic. Look no further than Modern Times and Stone. The former having just closed half their locations for multiple reasons (COVID among them), and the latter being in debt hundreds of millions of dollars.

The craft beer bubble has definitely popped a little bit. Nothing quite compares to where things were at between 2016-2018. Those were very lucrative and hype-filled years for craft beer.

I mean, does the stuff that makes it into distro have that much caché? I never really judge the hype factor by the stuff that makes it into stores. There is definitely a bunch of stuff that still have trade value and/or that “wow” factor - Hypermash, Depracophobia, Ghost Proton, etc.

When your reputation is largely based on pumping out BA Stouts, not all of them can be all stars all the time.

    Hypermash was THREE years ago.

Modern hype is unpredictable, and usually predicated on marketing, packaging, and some confluence of other factors like limited contributing factors such as barrels, collaborators, and/or a particularly poetic and gripping description of process.

Nearly all of BL's BA stouts are stars. Just because they make them at volume doesn't make them less stellar. There's breweries like Horus, Mikerphone, Aslin and more making absolutely atrocious beer with marginally more hype and trade value because of limited availability, but people are learning by getting burned. BL can both emulate a flavor profile they're aiming for while also leaving an amazing amount of room to express the sort of barrel character that still escapes almost every other brewery's ability to execute.

And if distribution is your measure of shit beer, well I'm glad Revolution sends so much garbage my way, most of which is better than the top 50 on UT or BA.

So I missed out on trying the new cocktail beers on tap, but I got a bottle of each. Did anyone try them and if so, how were they?

The gin based one was by far the crowd favorite. Both of them were in the sweeter side, but I’d say the gin based one was the sweetest. Having the ice in it balanced it over time. The gin based one was tropical, sour and it honestly was cocktail-like. I enjoyed them quite a bit
