damn. complete opposite today as everything i drank was fantastic. The rocky road stout and the strawberry stout were fantastic. they need to offer crowlers of those and barrel age them

edit: new reaction state was 100x better than FT and that terrible horchata stout

I'll never understand the hype for El Duende, not a fan of that one at all.

I’m really enjoying the beers so far. Another standout to me that I tried today (besides Maple Manticore) was Beneficial Adaptation. I think that’s the best kettle sour that BL has put out yet. Tart, yet super refreshing and a perfect palate cleanse.

I will say, I do have one big complaint though, and that’s the lines. I don’t remember it ever being this bad. I hope next year they have a better game plan for line management, because the 30-40 minute waits for a pour are ridiculous. I can’t recall ever waiting this long for pours before. Even at its worst last year, I don’t think any line was longer than maybe 15 minutes. I did notice that the pour stations were reduced this year from last year’s 4 to this year’s 3. Going back to 4 would probably help a lot with getting those lines under control.

I feel like switching to tickets could help? Maybe allow some preorder for each day during registration and then pick up to speed things up or split the lines. Pourers ringing every person up is what I think is the biggest bottleneck.

It's not as bad as two years ago, when we were stuck inside the warehouse space, but last year had four bay doors open. Two for "regular" pours, and then one each for old stuff and catalogued stuff.

The "regular" line this year is one large line and the wait on it looks ridiculous. My friends and I have basically only had beers from the Vault and the Forge at this point. Kinda bummed about it, but what can ya do.

Really liked Maple Manticore though last night.

Anyone know if the large lines were an issue early afternoon (2-4) yesterday?

From what I’ve seen, there was little line or crowd until after 6

Only had a sip, but I liked what I had. Maybe a bit too much on the sweet side, but I also thought the same of Maple Manticore. Just a hair over the pastry sweetness scale towards 11.

I would've liked to have seen it use a base that was maybe like Bruery's White Oak Sap (only in terms of malt not actually that beer) where the rice & cream might've had a bigger role.

I’m visiting Anaheim this week. When I was researching places to checkout a few weeks ago, Bottle Logic was on my list. Now that I’m here, it appears that I’ve been plopped into some kind of event week that I can’t make heads or tales of. Is the actual taproom open? Would be be wise just to avoid it this week for other more low key options? I’m more interested in sampling some of the areas best offerings, not checking BL beers off my list. Thanks in advance for any advice.

It might be better for you that Week of Logic is on. There's way more beers on tap and they open earlier, at eleven*.

Taproom's closed, but the entire back lot is open for your business.

    Thanks for the correction, PBRandJ

Between 2-4 yesterday, there was almost no line. It apparently gets busy in the early evening. The beerses are damn nice and plenty of them. It would be like missing the Firestone Walker Invitational or Hunahpu's Day after noticing your hotel was right next door and tickets were available (no tix needed for BL).

Thanks for the quick sage advice guys. I see they have food trucks, but are there any good food spots or breweries with food in the area?

I've generally liked the food trucks there. I also like Poki Roll but it's a drive to get to from BL. But I'm always willing to do it.

First place I can think of is Mas, 601 E. Orangethorpe Rd, Fullerton. One of the best Chinese restaurants in the county. It's Islamic chinese but just serves great up food far as I can tell. About 5-10 minutes from BL. (Three flavors dough sliced chow mein - da kine!)
