You sure do like to make meritless speculation about Anaheim and their workings, huh? The former Mayor is a major reason BL and about 15 or so other breweries opened in Anaheim during his term.

Termed out after 8 years. So yeah, former. He was definitely an advocate to the beer community, and to see people slam him, for reasons they don't fully comprehend, just seems unfortunate.

Anaheim went toe-to-toe with Disney, a company that contributes nearly $200 million to Anaheim's budget.

I doubt they give much thought to Bottle Logic and any consequences from a delayed expansion.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't think @BreakingMyBalls was blaming the former mayor for the delays that have been happening.

This residue is an amalgamation of the malt protein and vanilla bean particles that our fine mesh filters usually catch en route to bottle packaging. As we get to the bottom of the tank, the filter will sometimes struggle to keep up with the amplified pressure. We can usually tell when the sight glass shows us the end of a bottling run is nearing, but sometimes a rogue protein mass escapes in these opaque stouts.

We've seen this happen most frequently in Darkstar November and Fundamental Observation because we're not pushing the beer through any further finishing ingredients like cacao nibs or coconut pieces that act as additional 'filters.'

While it's not harmful in the least, beer gummies are unlikely to become the next trend and we're always happy to swap out an affected bottle! Shoot me an email via [email protected] if you catch one.

I hear beer gummies are the new coconut floaties.

Rogue Protein Mass sounds like a freaking cool band name. Probably a Sex Pistols cover band.

I had some poured from a bottle of F. Summation in a bottle share with a group of amazed and slightly disgusted Nederlanders. How about Putrid Smegma Mass? :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, it was his comment below from a few weeks back that certainly insinuated that Mayor Tait was "fake", so....sort of sounds like he was blaming him, along with the City, which the Mayor is most definitely a part of. It just doesn't seem like he has all of the facts together, or any because his claim is quite baseless.

This is just a rumor, but might provide some insight(?): according to a buddy who lives in Anaheim and goes to city council meetings and shit, the hold-up right now is about parking. She was saying that the city had originally said street parking, as well as the spaces they already have, would suffice: but over the last month they have backtracked, and are now requiring that BL builds additional parking lots.

This is just one example, but might give a good sense of how Anaheim is yanking them around...

That was definitely at least one of the reasons Anaheim's been causing the delay. I think BL actually had to decrease the planned size of the tasting room expansion at one point since the city requiring X amount of spaces per each Y amount of expanded square footage.

    Just plain stupid.

I don't understand the city's beef with BL. Can someone please explain? Are they just no longer brewery-friendly with Disneyland so close? Appreciate the context!

About a week ago, BA speculated that it's relatively easy to make a new brewery in Anaheim, that doesn't appear to be a problem. There have been a few OC openings too, so again, it doesn't seem to be a big problem to open a new spot.

With the issues (among other ones) that Noble and BL and MT have run into, it's more like expanding is the issue.

^ I'd pay for a spot near BL if it's guaranteed. Hell, I'd do that at Long Beach for sure.

...though the extreme end of that is $1m parking spots at some point.

It’s not a “new” vs. “expansion” issue.

Brewery X, which is a new brewery, has had the same/similar issues and has been “opening soon,” for about two years now. I spoke to one of the guys over there a couple of weeks ago, and was told they had not open yet because of various issues with the city. He said it looked like they’d finally finished jumping through all the hoops, and should be open in the next month or two. They have also been brewing for a little bit even thought they aren’t open to the public, so they should have plenty of beer for when they do open.

Additionally, MT is technically a “new brewery” in Anaheim as well. MT’s issues with opening isn’t with ABC licensing saying they can’t expand to Anaheim (something Anaheim has no control over), it is (in large part) due to all the issues with the city. It also takes a while to build/develop “a city block” of property, but they too had to jump through a ton of hoops just to break ground, and have fairly quickly built out once they finally got all the approvals.
