You know, I spend enough on BL without living in Anaheim - and I should probably thank Jesus I’m not closer. These overlooked Stasis releases are always something I really enjoy, including the last barleywine and 90% of their strong ales.

Even the stouts aren’t generating that much noise these days. Ready availability has pretty much halted the BL hype train. Not saying anything negative about the beers themselves, I think their stuff’s fantastic. But hype boys need “WHALES BRO”, and BL just doesn’t fit that bill really anymore.

When they are doing a stasis release every other week it’s hard to keep up. I’ve past on the last 2 because I didn’t want to make the drive.

Yeah but when they get to pumping them out this quick, the pickup windows will sometimes overlap so you can do two pickups in one trip. That's what I'm doing this weekend.

And that overlap is a huge benefit for anyone coming in from upper/lower/out of state

Yes, but that requires me knowing that. When I order a stasis beer I don’t assume that it will overlap with another. However, if I had purchased a beer and could pick up a second that would be great.

That's a good point. How far is your drive, though? Mine is about 35 miles and I can do it in about 45mins if I leave at the right time. I'm not skipping any releases over a 45min drive, though I have skipped a couple releases here or there simply because the beer itself didn't sound too appealing. Quick swing down to OC, grab my burrs, have a couple tasters, hit up Mr. K's and Green Cheek and call it good. 2-3 hours on a Saturday or Sunday, easy-peasy.

Just over an hour if I time it right.

With how much sees distro I’ve stopped making the drive altogether.

Same here. I passed on FO three separate times after I went to the brewery to pick up. Next time, I'll wait for distro.

On a related note does anyone know if the distro price = online price incl. fees or do you save money through distro because there is no fee?

Must be nice. Where I am, most BL beers that hit distro sell out QUICKLY. I don't like having to RUSH somewhere and HOPE I get a beer. Plus a lot of shops will make you buy other BL products you probably don't want (their year-round stuff) to get the Stasis beer.

Not to mention, if I just grab these at my local bottle shop I have no built-in excuse to hit up Green Cheek anymore. :worried:

Eventbrite fees are relatively cheap. The last release - Arcane Rituals - was $21.95 plus $2.20 for EB. Distro prices just depend how much profit your friendly liquor store owner or local booze chain wants to extract from their customers. Some places are reasonable, others...

You can always buy from distro and trade it to your dearest friends, or complete strangers from Kansas.

Broken Blender and the Neapolitan FO need to be bottled in the future. So much coconut on Broken Blender, enjoyed it more than Astronautica.

Wow, I'm having El Duende right now and I'm floored by how good it is and how similar to horchata it actually tastes. I've had a few terrible takes on horchata beers, including some out of Cali, and this easily takes the god damn cake (tres leches :stuck_out_tongue:).

I'm just more surprised right now because of how little hype I've heard about it.

Anyone know if Number Crunch and Arcane Rituals can be found in stores around OC/LA? Or do I need to trade for these if I’m trying to get a bottle of each?
