Bottle Logic Brewing (2020)

Jeez has it been three months already since they released it in crowlers? Pandemic is messing with my sense of time lol. Anywho an easy max for Proton

 

Tried my bottle on Monday night. Largely the same beer as in March but I tasted more of the rye/barrel this time around, which I guess is to be expected given this sat in barrels for presumably 3 more months. It really made the graham cracker flavor pop IMO, but it was thick, chocolately, still a pretty decent amount of marshmallow. Really, really like this beer a lot. The siege on my wallet continues from BL.

 

damn, I really wish Bottle Logic was closer. some of their recent releases have sounded amazing.

 

Anyone open their bottles of Voltaic Stack? I'm curious how overpowering the cinnamon is in that beer and how prevalent banana is. Any comments are appreciated!

 

They have been allowing proxies for bottle releases. That's always an option.

I tried one on Saturday. I got bananas on the aroma but not too much on the flavor. Still delicious though. Heavy on the maple.

 

Thanks for the reply. I'm not too fond on maple beers, and was hoping for for banana. Glad I passed. On the other hand, Ghost Proton is gonna be nuts.

 

I'll have to try another one soon for the sake of science to see if I pick up more banana. I was hoping it would be more banana forward but it was still quite enjoyable.

 

Anyone else feeling like this is Bottle Logic’s best year yet release-wise? I feel like it’s just been banger after banger.

Distant Messenger looks interesting. I didn't like the barrel-aged Jolteon (golden stout with hazelnuts/coffee) they had back in March, but the pineapple/coconut/marshmallow/coffee combo has me intrigued. I wonder if the base beer is the same?

 

Did they put ghost proton on over the weekend?

It is! This is the final evolution of the Jolteon golden stout base liquid.

Project Proto: Volt Halo was a fun iteration, but we ultimately decided to ditch the hazelnuts and push the final concept in a more complex direction.

Not to shill my wares here, but I'm really thrilled by Distant Messenger release. It's a weird and wonderfully perfect fit for the season. We're popping low-fills in the Tasting Room today, swing by!

 

They didn’t have on any of their barrel aged beers when I was there on Sunday because they were only doing full pours at the time

 

I popped one of my bottles last night and I gotta say it was a massive improvement on the Proto version with hazelnuts (to me, at least). Loved how creamy/marshmallowy it was. Coffee wasn't overpowering and both the pineapple and coconut were present as well on the front. I thought I was for sure going to skip the public sale on this one but I think I'm going to have to grab another 1-2 next Sunday!

 

Anybody heard when FO 2020 is coming out? 2019 was July. 2018 was August. 2017 was July.

 

I’d put money on later this month or the beginning of August. Their release time for FO has been pretty consistent within a 1 to 2 month range the past 4 years.

 

It'll most likely be this month (possibly the next sale?). July is typically "Stout Weather" month, so unless there was some issue with it needing a little more aging, expect it really soon.

Also, according to an interview with one of the brewers, they'll be releasing a new variant with it that they haven't done before. My hope is that even if they can't have an actual FO Weekend (stupid Covid), that they still do additional variants for either crowler fills or smaller bottlings. FOMO or FOCOCO especially.
