This will be my first attempt of their cans. Hopefully it'll be their best!

I'm thinking the same. My first BL can. I just hope it's good.

You skipped out on the Konami series, my dude? They were still finding their footing with the style and canning but I'd say BL made some mighty tasty stuff.

Haven't had anything BL in many moons. Many more than monks. This should be interesting.

You haven't missed much (in terms of IPAs). Hopefully this collaboration series is a step up.

I though left right was as good as anything I've had from Noble, Monkish, or CASA.

Konami Code beers were solid but not at the level of some other breweries NE style IPAs. This looks promising though!

Agreed. Start was my first cans from BL and I thought it was disappointing

Which batch is better FO b1 or b3?

I would say b1, but that is tough to really gauge since it has an additional 2yrs of bottle-aging on it.

From the couple of people that I know that had b1 when it was fresh, they've all said b3 fresh is spot-on with it. b1 at this point though of course is going to have an edge since it's has some age on it. Looking forward to drinking a bottle of b3 every 6 months or so and seeing how it changes.

Is that right? I thought vanilla falls off over time, so typically it's going to be better fresh?

Well the oldest vintage of FO is only 2 years back, but if past BA vanilla stouts are any representation of longevity, i.e. Vanilla Rye (2014) and OG Vanilla (2010), which still both hold up from what I've heard, then FO should hold for just as long or longer.

I had VR (2014) and OG Vanilla (2010) at Rare Day a couple years back, and it wasn't close...VR smoked it. Everyone there was saying that it was because the vanilla had fallen off in the OG.

That's the reason I asked the question above. Was curious which school of thought was correct.

I domed a B3 last night, and felt it was pretty damn similar to B1.
    Which is to say, delicious.

Yeah...even VR...I'd say isn't even worth the trade anymore. I got hardly any vanilla in the VR I had 3 months ago and didn't even like it as a decent stout. Regular 2016 BCBS was better. If anyone was looking to trade those bottles they should have offloaded those a while back. Anyone desperately seeking a VR now will be sorely disappointed, despite their desperate urge to profess to everyone how rewarding their extreme efforts were to get it.

ive had both recently and B1 crushes all other batches. Far thicker mouthfeel and still has better vanilla flavor

edit: b3 good as fuck tho
