Yup, anybody can buy. Usually a Sunday at noon PST and it's just whoever clicks fastest. Cost includes the beer. Have to pickup in person, no proxies allowed.

Does anyone know when Bottle Logic will open their expanded tasting room? Any rumors on expanded hours?

West Coast traders are the worst. As soon as something like jam the radar and Rye BVASS gets released, they flood the market. They freak out when they can't get Assassin '14 for it. They then panic as if they put all their money into concentrated orange juice. You never see people in the midwest and east coast with their overhyped beer, do that stuff. It's almost like they have meetings on how to maintain the hype of there beers.

J.Wakefield is a perfect example. Do they make good beer? Yes, definitely. The people trying to trade their stuff sell it like it's gonna grow your dick a few inches, and people eat it up. M3 is superior to "It Was all a Dream", but people will trade M3, FO, and RBVASS++++ for one.

    /end rant

To be honest, I'm not sure how you guys trade for such hyped midwest/east coast beers considering the disparities in trade values. Other than having established trading partners, it's pretty tough to find fair trade offers in the open market. Furthermore, in order to form those equitable trading partnerships, you have to be willing to go through a period of trading shelf turds which may or may not guarantee your end goal. To make it even tougher, a lot of California beer is produced at a scale that either allows for out-of-state distribution or reduces its desirability from a trade perspective.

I used to bring up this topic when I was more active in trading maybe 6 years ago or so and it was saddening to see all the California traders who endorsed this disparity because, in the end, they'd get their coveted beers.

I came to realize these areas (except Chicago, which is a rant for another day), have that one brewery that releases a beer once a year, and they make people jump through hoops to purchase it. TG is a perfect example. If you live in the area, the only thing probably keeping you from running straight into a tornado, is your MD b3 bottle, and your collection of Slipknot cd's. MD is a good beer, but we've done bottle shares, and all of us felt FOb1 was better than MD B2. Sorry for hijacking this thread. We should start a "West Coast Trader fails" thread.

Thanks everyone for the reminder on why I don't trade beer anymore.

If west coasters stopped trading, maybe the value would go up. I haven't had a beer from outside of California that I thought damn, I am gonna give up $50+ worth of beer and pay shipping cost for a $20 bottle. Yes, other areas make good to great beer, but why pay the premium when we have the overall best beer scene in the country and I would even say the world.

Anyone traded in their bottle of BV for JTM yet?
Was it full, empty? Just curious how the whole process went.

Didn't have any bottles to trade myself, but was in the tasting room the other day and saw people bringing in BV bottles by the caseload to exchange for JtR, empty and full.

They were supposed to start the expansion of the tasting right after Week of Logic. They wanted to get it done around the time FO 2017 will be released in June, but I was in yesterday and didn't see any work being done yet.

I took in four empty bottles yesterday for a swap, which I had opened the night before. All were infected. They took the empty bottles and gave me four JtR's, in addition to my LU bottle, as I sipped a glass of JtR at the bar. Easy peasy.
