Bottle Logic Brewing Thread - Winter 2016/2017

Went to BL and had Reaction and Ground State on tap today. Wow. What happened. Nothing like last years. I could barely finish my taster l. I didnt like either one of these. Kinda glad I got assed out on bottles.

 

That's a bummer to hear. I too missed out on bottles and was hoping they'd last til Monday when I gotta drive north so I could stop by and taste them both.

Agreed, although I was able to finish mine. People are saying it tastes the same, but it's a completely different recipe.

 

Wasn't last one using vanilla as prime sweetener and this one using maple?

 

I think Reaction State has a warm, sweet maple/bourbon flavor but was pretty disappointed in Ground State. Last year's GS was all about the grounds: not so much '17.

 

No I'm serious, here's the description of last year's GS:

"Stout brewed with chocolate and cocoa nibs and aged in bourbon barrels with vanilla and coffee beans."

Versus this year's:

"Stout brewed with Vermont maple syrup aged in bourbon barrels then finished with cacao nibs and coffee"

So, i know the verbal description isn't perfect, but we lost chocolate and vanilla beans, changed from coffee beans to already brewed coffee, and added maple.

I remember abnormal saying that the rise in cost for vanilla beans was why m3 was so much pricier, maybe this was the reason for the tweak?

 

Except Abnormal has always charged exhorbitant prices for their bottles. Is there an excuse printed on the back of every beer they bottle?

 

That's what happens when you work off year-old memories - I can recall the coffee, but chocolate and vanilla, not so much.

Kinda like if you ask me about maple flavor in GS a year from now. The maple is more, um, nuanced. Yeah, that's it. Nuanced.

 

People against online sales are the worst.

 

BL should just ignore those comments.

 

Win or lose on the raffle. I continue to be impressed with BL's locals first approach and their avoidance of shit shows. BL is doing a lot things right IMO.

 

When Bottle Logic lowkey roasts the complainers in the comments I can't help but feel warm and fuzzy inside.

 

My personal new favorites being the 'Gotta be bots' people that have come out of the woodwork. Clearly they A) have a understanding of how that would actually work (#sarcastic) and B) there is clearly no other explanation as to why they didn't personally get any bottles other than people using bots.....

Keep on trucking BL crew, no one here wants the 3 AM lineups.
