I remember when beer was fun. Now it can be a chore. The FOMO we create. Ignorance is bliss...

Anyone comment on line indoor to get stamp and pour in the back?

Line out the door like yesterday or more mellow?

Line to get to the back was pretty far back - about 45 minutes after all was said and done when I got there today. Yeah, they really should split off some of those one off's to the front register as those folks are taking it easy most of the time while the line for the back just slowly moves.

Tomorrow should have some sort of ticketing thing as well for Some Assembly Required.

And of course the limited distribution will happen to those accounts who have been with them. So it'll see cases pop up in various spots.

Way more mellow. Maybe 15 minute wait. Line never made it into the front room, seemed to hang around the stamping table.

Edit: this is from my time being there from 3:30 to 6:00

Hypeboys already pushed this to $100 - 125 secondary. RIP the days of ppl drinking their beer (yeah, I know, I'm like a year late to this notion).

Yeah, a bit odd to see folks that were standing in a few people ahead of you suddenly trying to flip this on the secondary market. Pushing the price up now because it finally "sold out" even though I'm sure at least 10-20 cases are going to hit those local accounts anyway.

SO RAR, BRAH. ONLY 4,800 BOTTLES!!!11

Only a year late? It's been on a downward spiral for much longer than that.

I tried not to pay attention to the downward spiral as much, plus I drank mostly local and various festivals up until like 3years ago when I started trading. I still remember trading a $20 bottle of beer and some extras for a $20 bottle of beer and some extras. I don't have the time nor really want to have to maintain spreadsheets of secondary values now just so I can trade for a beer I would like to try...the effort is far too much.

The place is back to being a relative shitshow with the post work crowd. Parking is even more of a nightmare since the place across the street got a security guard to stop people from parking there.

The sad truth is that the beer game has basically turned into the sneaker game. People care more about the value of their beer on the secondary and trade market instead of drinking it. We talk more about how long lines are and how many bottles are left more than we talk about the beer itself. The threads that involve the releases that require the 2-4 hour wait....those are the ones that always make me shake my head.

which makes me wonder, at some point a brewery is going to start having their customers accumulate "rewards points" in some fashion, to be able to qualify for purchasing things down the road (not surprised if that already happened somewhere). Let's see, Rewards Points could be gained by each visit to the taproom, based on dollars spent in the taproom over a certain period.. something like that. From a business standpoint it'd have to be geared more towards getting people to visit them as often as possible to get rewards points. Then you'll have the speculators sending weekly mules out to drink and become regulars at the brewery. That'd be funny.

Highland Park and Monkish sort of have that going in their own way, with their "Beer Friends" groups. People are invited based on being regular supporters

As long as releases sell out, they aren't going to give 2 Fs about loyal customers getting the releases. I've argued for this many times, but I'm just labeled as "entitled" when I do, so there's no point in even bothering anymore.

...shit...well done. But no, always and forever a NIN fan, spreading the hate since 1993. =)

Pretty sure I still have that concert ticket around here somewhere too, assuming it hasn't finally disintegrated.

So in case anyone actually wants to talk about the beer instead of the shit show line. I just cracked Ground State and it is much better out of the bottle than on tap. Thoughts by anyone who has opened a bottle??

What time was that at? I was thinking of going over late night instead of at open, since today's bottle release will likely be a huge nightmare as well. Hoping it would die down by 9;00.

Open a bottle?!?! Are you crazy man?! That stuff's like solid goollllddd! I'' saving it for a special occasion, like the birth of my first child, man waking on Mars, or when unicorns and leprechauns can once again roam the plains freely...

I got there a little before 8, thankfully the line was moving a liiiittle bit more quickly than it was on Sunday. By the time I left around 8:40/50 the line was out the door to get the passport beer.
