went to iron press around 645. hardly a line. got a spot at the bar and got 2 pours of fundamental. grabbed a table outside shortly after next to what appeared to be a decent bottle share. They generously offered us pours but we didnt bring anything so we politely declined. Ended up enjoying 6 pours each of FO along with delicious waffles and tots. Mission accomplished.

edit: the new FO is especially good once it gets to room temp, reminiscent of batch 1. I expect the bottles to be much better as compared to the draft as it seems to be with all other bottle logic stouts

Great event ended having 3 pours and one Fundamental Float, without any hassle.

They still had some flowing when I left around 8:30.

well, at current time, I do believe that the stuff being poured is still an equal balance blend of all the barrels and the final blend has either barely been figured out or will be barely figured out right up till the final moment of when it has to be bottled.

didnt even need to! somehow it seemed POG juice was more popular than FO with the crowd there.

did anyone try the pappy karl straus? wanted to try it but it but kept ordering FO

Are you talking about "who's your pappy"? Or did they do another one? I had a WYP at abnormal a few months ago... Highly sweet caramel and brown sugar juice with low carb if I recall correctly (didn't take notes) without a really clear whisky bite.

Any hint on the possible "variant pour" you mentioned, or at least the timing of when it'll be available?

The requirement to provide the number associated with the ID chosen seems odd and grossly unnecessary.

I dont have a problem with it.
People try to cheat the system all the time.

It just seems like overkill to me. You are already asking for name to match ID and credit card used.

All it would take is a man-in-the-middle attack since a name+DL# is enough information needed to go ahead and really ruin your day.

A man in the middle attack is the least of my concerns in a situation like this, I'm sure they'll dump a CSV export out of EventBrite with everything once the sale is over and email it around to various employees, maybe post it to Dropbox for internal sharing. I'm sure their IT department enforces a solid password strength and expiration policy, though, so any of these potential points of failure is rock solid...

I know Hanlon's Razor is in full effect and Bottle Logic's intentions are pure - prevent people from cheating the system - but asking for anything resembling sensitive data in a situation like this is an atrociously bad idea. Ten years in the internet marketing industry has taught me that damn near anything you type into a form online ends up for sale eventually, whether intentional or not.

Yup, this my concern. I am glad there are ppl not concerned about it. They should just send me their name and DL# and I can bring them a really great looking ID.

I'd have to agree, requiring DL# seems like a bad idea from a security standpoint but I can't say it will stop me from joining the rat race. Either way, there will be several lists printed w/ everyone's DL#, CC# and name so I hope they at least take note of this board's concerns and make efforts to secure & shred those docs asap.

FWIW I am all for trying to cut down on the people who abuse the system.

I do not believe CC# information gets passed from eventbrite/bpt to the event organizer. At least all of the lists I have seen printed out when picking up bottles at various breweries through various different ticketing systems never had that information. Usually just name/quantity/ticket#s.

I'm still not sure how this is any way different than what Kern River does to enter the Citra lotto.

It's an extra step that will help it not sell to mules. Leche Borracho lasted a while because of the measures they took in curbing proxying, so this is fine with me.

For the T3 people we had to give 'em our ID # for the blending event and no one batted an eye. And those were written down on pieces of paper.

So far, no scheming ne'er-do-well has tried to steal my or my friends' identities.
