Dang dude! I keep seeing you post about all the bottles that you keep getting. Must be nice...

*I'm just jealous of all your disposable money and time :slight_frown:

Hey Juan, guess who else picked up a bottle of FO in HB yesterday? The life of leisure...

Nice, Frank! And thanks again for sharing your bottles with the group. Your generosity is much appreciated. Hope to be able to bottle-share again soon. Cheers!

HB keg shouldn't be far from blowing. I had a few and it was getting poured fairly often.

The 3 kegs lasted at the tap room for days, because it seems most people just want the bottles for #whitewhalez trades. The real BA's actually want to taste the beer, and enjoy it. Not profit off of it.

I'm really surprised how good it is. VR and BCBVS were not good for me so I assumed I didn't like big stouts with big vanilla, but this is on point. Glass 2.

Isn't that MOST people, though? I mean, let's be real, there's still a lot of folks who give up a shit ton for IPA's from across the U.S. when by the time it gets here, it's already dropped off some. You're better off finding a local brewer with some really fresh beer and save yourself the fedex cost.

Same with FO comparing it to or shooting for a VR. Why? Lateral move at best. It seems that's common as I see Parabola trade out a lot and I have to wonder what you possibly are going to get for a parabola $4$ wise, that would make that anything but a bad deal for yourself.

I tend to agree, I have done one coast to coast IPA trade for Maine Dinner but that was done so quickly that it was at my door 5 days after bottle date. And I don't regret that at all. I definitely get your point though, in trading for Psuedo, Zombie Dust, and even some of the Trillium stuff, etc..

I had two pours of FO (just to get it out of my system, or in-to my system in this case) and have had a fair share of VR, and I give VR the edge without any hesitation. However, given the relatively small time BL has been brewing it's impressive what they've done with it. I'm still shocked the hype it's getting on the trade boards and what it's going for. I would like to try BL's base BA stout before they added vanilla to it and compare that with BCBS. Because for me, that's why VR wins hands down. The base beer is just too damn good.

I'd love to do a side-by-side of these two. I'm also in the small camp that thinks Vanilla Rye is better. I've had VR three times and FO twice, but it's not often fair unless it's a blind side-by-side. Way too may other factors involved.

I have yet to try FO but have had VR several times and it is fantastic. Not saying anything against FO, especially since I have yet to try it, but are you sure you're in the "small camp" thinking VR is better? Seems the opposite to me based on what I've read and heard but just curious.

I wouldn't say either camp is small. It's the "Taste Great/Less filling" of debates. Neither is wrong, really. Just more along the lines of your preference.

I get the need to tick them all, but after a while that just gets old and you realize that you had some great beers right in front of you and the chase ain't worth it.

and based on the fact that there seem to be way more FT: FO ISO: VR than the opposite.

To me, VR and FO taste nothing alike. I get that both are BBA vanilla stouts, but they're completely different beers. It's like the guy who I wanted to punch in the face that was comparing DDG to Resurgam.
