Just thought I'd share some info with Canadian BA's since it's really helped me lately and I couldn't find any shippers to buy localy.

Uhaul.ca has styro bottle shippers for 1,2,3,6, and 12 bottles. Prices are good, $10 for a 6 bottle, $17 for 12 bottle. No tax, and orders above $25 get free shipping right to your door. Pretty nice considering the size of these boxes!

Here's the (possible) bad part. Orders come from the US, so anything above $20 could be subject to tax and the dreaded brokerage fees. So far I've placed 2 orders of 1x 6bottle + 1x 12bottle and another order of 2x 12-bottle. They've all shown up within a week with no extra charges.

I've noticed that few Canadian BA's use these, but they keep those expensive bottles nice and safe and make packing a breeze. One other thing, there's printing on the top that states there is alcohol contained in the box, don't deliver to minors, bla bla bla. It's easily covered by your shipping label, or just use some tape to pull a thin layer of the cardboard off where the printing is.

    Cheers!

I've used these shippers (6 and 12 bottles) for 10 cross Canada trades return without a single break (knock on wood). Well worth the investment. If you're trading you should definitely look into these.

    I use these as well.

The good thing is that, since it is free shipping on orders above $25 (used to be $35, have they changed it?) you can generally avoid the brokerage/duty charges by keeping orders as close to that amount as possible. If you need to order more, just place a seperate order a couple of days later.

I won't ship without a bottle shipper anymore. Not worth the risk. And if you add up the cost of boxes, bubble wrap, packing peanuts, etc. to ship without a bottle shipper, you aren't really saving all that much money. Having just a single box break is not worth saving a few bucks.

My suggestion is to make these a requirement for the next CANBIF.

Only complaint: I would love to see other sizes added. A 9 bottle shipper would be great.

18 would be nice too! Great idea for the canbif. Can't be too carefull when one bottle breaking could mean your whole box getting dumped.

"Invest" is a good choice of words. Definitely more expensive then traditional packing materials but well worth the price. The spring is a long way away so people have plenty of time to save their pennies :stuck_out_tongue:
