Right but I mean, how did they get HT?

No discounts, but I have become a frequent enough customer that all I have to do is call them when a limited release beer comes out and they will hold it for me. I guess my discount is that I can save vacation time since I don't have to take off from work now to chase beer.

A local shop gives a % discount if you buy multiple singles or bombers in one visit (I think its a minimum 3 bottles). More than once I've noticed they gave me the discount even though I didn't meet the minimum. Very nice guys.

I think they traded or had someone bring it down.

In addition to the ludicrous case laws, I think PA is also weird about alcohol-based rewards. Iron Hill had to change their mug club program so that you no longer received points for buying beer.

Odd about having to go to the distributor to buy cases. In MN we can't buy from distributors - which especially sucks because I work for one :slight_frown: if I see something I want I have to ask the rep who sells to my shop to sell it in to that store.

A store here has stamp cards, every 4 pack, 6 pack, or bomber gets a stamp on the card. After 10 stamps, you get a free glass (normally sold at $5).

Also Hoppin Frog (Akron brewery) does 10% off case purchases.

The main one I go to has a little scanner thing up front that you scan a thing on your keychain at like you would in the grocery store. You get 5 points every time you come in and make a purchase, but it doesn't matter how large or small the purchase is. You can redeem different amounts of points for different rewards.

I've been saving mine for a while and I now have enough for the top level reward, which is a "keg party," meaning you get a free quarter-barrel of anything they can get (within reason) and food from a local restaurant for 10 people. Just gotta figure out when I'm gonna use it!

Hah, we're even that fortunate. "Beer distributor" is just what they call the shops that sell cases. It's not equivalent to the "distributor" in the 3-tier system. I think there might be some that are both? But I'm not clear on that.

WTF? Sooooo... some liquor stores can sell by the case, and some can't.

    ok.

One of the locals to me has a punch card. If you spend more than $15 on a visit buying craft beer, they punch the card. After 10 visits, they give you one bottle of beer up to $9 free of charge, or discount the same amount off a bottle that costs more.
Another shop just gives me a free shelf beer here and there.

Hah, we're not even that fortunate. Some liquor stores can ONLY sell by the case, no singles or six packs allowed! Hope you like Enjoy By enough to drink 12 of them before date rolls around.

The other kind can ONLY sell 196 oz. per transaction, no cases allowed! Also they're usually more expensive because they're classified as restaurants. Wegman's has a separate set of registers for prepared food and beer. Plus, my understanding is that these kind get less common as you get further from Philly.

I have a shop locally that has a rewards program. You get $1 of store credit for every $10 you spend. You can build up as much credit as you want and it never expires. When you want to spend credit, it can't be for more than 50% of the purchase price. Therefore, it's good to use it on a large purchase (i.e. - buy $100 worth of beer for $50).

Most of the local HyVee's around also have a punch card where you buy 6 sixers or four packs of craft beer, the next one is half off.

I go to a bunch that don't offer "Loyalty Programs" but follow the usual get to know the beer guy, get beer set aside philosophy.

That said, I do belong to one Loyalty program (College Square Liquors in MD). It's like $25 a year, you get a weekly email blast with new arrivals, some backroom beers (really gone downhill over the last six months), 10%, and can call and reserve orders. Works well for me since I'm not in the area often but usually pick up about $100 worth each time.

15% of your entire purchase after 20 punches on your card. You basically get a punch whenever you buy something there. 15% adds up though b/c this is a beer store and homebrew shop!!! I could and have spent up to $200 on a purchase to use my filled card.

One of my locals started posting on Instagram - if you text craft to the number, they add you to the special release text list and will offer 15% off for the following week.

yeah, first time we ever bought beer in pa, we ended up buying 4 separate cases, as we were headed and all 4 of us could not agree! figured extras will get drank or go to the house.

my brother in law is in the "beer club" at his liquor store. it is $25 a year, and every purchase gets a 10% discount, even wine and liquor i believe. plus, he gets a weekly email with all of the new craft additions for the week (this is the most helpful part!).

he also gets access to back room beer club only selections, which are typically limited in the amounts you can purchase. i was able to get bcbs last year taking advantage of the back room access. the store has a great selection, but is a bit nmore expensive than some stores i usually go to. all in all, if a local spot of mine offered something similar, i would do it!
