After seven months of being inundated with questions regarding the availability of Heady Topper at my store (for which, of course, read: NONE), I brought an empty can in and hid it on a top shelf in back. Now whenever anyone asks whether we carry it I point to the empty can and say "well, we did..."

(Then, of course, when they inevitably ask when we last had it, I admit to them that it was about two years ago and that it's no longer possible to get in Massachusetts. I'm not a complete monster...just easily amused.)

I'll admit to doing a double take before laughing. They had fresh Hopocalypse, so I left happy.

They should not lay the beers on their sides like that. From BA's How to Store Beer -

    • Long storage of a beer on its side can create a yeast ring (or water-mark) inside the bottle, which will not settle. Storing a beer upright will ensure that the yeast compacts to the bottom of the bottle.
    • The upright storage method decreases the amount of exposed beer thus slowing oxidation of the beer.

That's pretty funny and I'm sure some people won't get it and move on, and those that do should enjoy the joke. Or...sadly not bc beer is soooo serious.

I love it when bottle shops advertised having Bourbon Barrel Black Note when they really only had regular Black Note.

So you taunt your customers because you don't like that part of your job? Classy.

I took it as a joke, conversation starter and a new way to answer their question about Heady availability.

OP, that is some funny stuff.
