Heading out to DC for New Years for the Winter Classic game. Going to be staying near the Dupont Circle Metro stop. Was wondering if anyone could recommend places around there that would have a good selection (I'm from Chicago so looking for stuff not distributed out here) So yeah any suggestions of places near Dupont Circle or even elsewhere that I could get to via public transportation. I had heard from a friend as far as selection that Churchkey is a must go to place. Any other bars with a really big bottle list, or large selection or rotating taps? Thanks for any help :-)

This was the list I created from feedback last time I visited:

Churchkey bar (whole foods around the corner(P street) - bottles)
    Arrowine - bottles
    Right proper - brewpub
    Bluejacket - brewpub
    Pizzaria paradiso - Georgetown/DuPont circle
    Connecticut ave wine/liquor

One of my favorite spots near there is a bar called Bier Baron. It's a few blocks away from the DuPont Circle metro stop, it's a small bar that has a solid draft and bottle list. I like hitting their happy hour deal that is $10 for a burger + beer (burgers and fries are solid, haven't tried any of their other food yet).

There are a lot of other good beer bars that are easily accessible by metro. RFD and City Tap House are both a short walk from the Gallery Place/Chinatown metro (red line, same as DuPont). Near the Verizon Center where the Capitals play.

Bluejacket is a cool brewery that is walking distance from the Navy Yard metro (green line). Also, right by the Nationals stadium too.

Also, how are Winter Classic ticket prices looking in Chicago? Lowest I've seen around here has been $300/ticket, hoping they drop so I don't have to fork over that much. Go Hawks!

Definitely hit up bluejacket before the game. Arrive early though - on Nationals game days the place is pretty packed.

GBD (Golden Brown Delicious) and Big Hunt are also close by Dupont in addition to what @JDienno mentioned.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, will definitely try to check out several of these spots. Bluejacket I'm thinking maybe after the game since the game is pretty early (1PM start) DammitMike as far as ticket prices go its expensive out here, I got to buy two for being a Blackhawks season ticket holder though. It looks like prices will start to drop now that they released standing room only however.

Don't miss going to Whole Foods P St. -- it's a few blocks from Dupont Circle and easily the best bottle shop in the city.

Hit up Blue Jacket before the game, it will be crowded so if you can make a reservation and get a table. I've done this before Nats games and works well.
