I'll be in Orlando next weekend and was wondering what some of the better bottle shops or beer bars there are to be found? I'm staying north in Winter Park, but don't mind driving a bit for something worthwhile. Thanks!
There is a thread for Orlando/Tampa, but it can get a bit confusing with different people posting. http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...ando-look-here-first-spring-16-update.390487/ Beer Bars (Check tap lists before you go) Numerous World of Beers in the area Brass tap Redlight Redlight Thirsty Topher (pretty popular, but can be hard to find a taplist) Barley and Vine Gnarly Barley Bottle Shops (most or all should have the basic Cigar City and Funky Buddha beers, but the special releases usually run out pretty quick) Total Wine is always good Knightly Spirits on OBT Big C Liquor is in Winter Park and has a decent selection Shamrock Beverage is near UCF and has a good selection Lots of ABC locations with a good spread of options
@Jason_cs's list is solid, for sure. I'd still recommend hitting the very first page of the Tampa/Orlando thread he hyperlinked because it contains a fairly succinct list of the must-hit places. (To be fair, the thread sometimes gets into the minutiae of different communities and special events and what-not, but @BKnarr has done a tremendous job distilling the important stuff to a manageable list on the first page.). Cheers; safe travels!
Knightly spirits is the best in Orlando as far as bottle shops go, IMO. It's quite a hike from Winter Park, though. ABC Winter Park is actually pretty good and has a growler station. Total wine is always a solid choice and we have a few around, too.
Thanks for the info; looks like Knightly Spirits and Total Wine are definitely on the list! Does Cycle happen to get out that way much, or is it gobbled up immediately?
.... and any of the rare and BA bottles you're likely salivating over are special release only and gone unless you get lucky and one releases while you're hear. Depending how long you're here a day trip to Tampa / St Pete is never a bad idea.
Packaged Cycle beer is for sale only at the brewery; however, we are fortunate to get Cycle on tap (since you also asked about beer bars, @FBGordon) around the Tampa Bay area. Maybe it gets as far as O-town? Not sure but maybe worth checking.
I'll probably be done in Orlando by 3PM on Monday, so I may very well ride down to Tampa/St. Pete for the afternoon/evening. And I'm not starstruck by the unicorns; I'm down to get my hands on their solid staples.
Fixie, Crank, and Cream & Sugar Please should be available on tap around Orlando and may even be growlerable depending on where you are.
Knightly Spirits, specifically the main store on Orange Blossom Trail next to Sedano's Liquor at Ovation in Davenport Lakeland's Beer Revolution House of Beer in Hunter's Creek
I'll second (or third) Knightly Spirits. Cycle Crank is on draft at Fit and Fuel Cafe in Naples if you make it down there
Damn. They have expanded their distribution network down the gulf coast so much in the last year(down to Naples it seems), I just assumed Orlando was getting kegs too.
