Will be going to Pittsburgh in mid February for 4 days. I know I've seen upon searching places to go but city is fairly large. Will be staying at DoubleTree by Hilton Pittsburgh downtown hotel. Is there any family friendly breweries to eat and grab a beer or two remotely close and or bottle shops ?

Thanks in advance. Starting to stash some cash for beers I can't get in NY

All breweries are a slight drive from your location.

Church Brew Works (probably the most family "friendly" and most food options)
    Penn
    Roundabout
    Hop Farm
    Grist House
    Draai Laag

The nearest bottle shop I can think is Atlas and Fat Head's has beer to go also.

Breweries in or around the city... East End, Penn Brewery, Roundabout, Grist House, Church Brew Works, Brew Gentleman and Draai Laag.

As far as bottle shops, the closest one to your hotel is going to be Packs and Dogs up on Mount Washington which is above your hotel. If you have a rental car, I'd suggest taking a drive out to New Kensington to visit House of 1,000 Beers.

I love Draai Laag but they're only open on Thursday and Friday evenings so it limits their accessibility a bit. If you can make it there though I highly recommend them.

Hmmm, Packs of dogs and House of 1000 beers websites both have KBS listed. Seriously? Didn't think it came out til March. It sells out in Buffalo, NY as quick as Bourbon county stout does.

They just don't update their websites. I can 100% guarantee you that neither of them have any KBS.

House of 1000 Beers has the best selection but be prepared to sell your daughter into slavery to afford anything there. They are pricey but they carry some out of distro beers that you can't find anywhere else locally. Expect to pay 10-20% extra.

Roundabout is my favorite brewery in the area. they have Hyer-PA on right now which I bought a growler of today. It's really, really nice. They also just did a bottle release of an BA Old Ale that they may still have.

The bottle release just happened today so I imagine they still have some.

I like East End and Drai Laag the most around here.

No we were talking about a release from one of the local breweries that happened over the weekend.

To be fair, prices there are comparable to (& in most cases, cheaper than) other independent bottle shops for comparable product.

Fatheads is pretty family friendly too. And while the Pittsburgh Fatheads is not a brewery, they do typically have a dozen or so beers on tap at any given time from the Fatheads brewery in Ohio, which makes some very consistently delicious beer (particularly their IPAs, though I really have yet to be let down by any of their styles). As well as a bunch of other stuff on tap. And awesome giant sandwiches.
