Hey all. A friend who loves beers is down in Hollywood (zip 33019) for business until Friday. Any recommendations on where he should check out? I looked up BeerMenus using the zip, but nothing interesting. I'd love for him to bring a couple Marshall Zhukov back for me as well. Thanks!

About half an hour north of Hollywood is Oakland Park, which is where Funky Buddha is, definitely worth checking out.

We found a few gems on 17th St in Ft. Lauderdale this summer. Total Wine and Crown Liquors are located up that way and should only be a 15 minute drive unless traffic is backed up.

^^^All of that. The Tipsy Boar and PRL Euro Café are pretty sweet craft beer bars in downtown Hollywood.

Agree with the posters above: Tipsy Boar and PRL for bars in downtown Hollywood. Bottles shops: Total Wine, Crown Liquors, ABC Wine & Spirits. He may want to call and ask if they have Marshall Zhukov at any of these shops, as it could be difficult to find. I actually found some at Whole Foods in Plantation (about 15 minutes from Hollywood) a few weeks ago.

^^Plantation whole foods is ballin, got 6 there myself. There is a whole foods downtown that has equally good selection and is closer to Hollywood.

You should def have him call around first. Zhukov is nearly impossible to find by now. Good luck!

Thank you all for your advice! I sent him this thread for him to look at. Will ask him not to bother with the MZ. He doesn't have a lot of time after work so I'd rather him just go and enjoy some great craft beers at highly regarded places by BAs here. Thanks again!

Bumping this thread to see if there are any updates to the Hollywood beer scene. We'll be there for wedding in a couple of weeks. Staying at the Diplomat Resort and won't have a car, so anything cab-able (Uber?) would work. Thinking mostly bars, but could also check out a bottle shop to stock the hotel room. Thanks.

And many other places between the two he mentioned.
Why heck, just north of the airport is Lauderale (brewery) and recently opened Riverside Market South (food and beer) just a couple of miles from each other.

Thanks again for the recs, everyone. Made it out to Tipsy Boar for both lunch and dinner on Sunday. Tap list was very good -- much better than what's on their website. One of the beers clearly came out of a dirty line, but otherwise no complaints. Flights were a very good deal.

Spent the entire rest of the weekend at the Diplomat, which was less of a craft desert than I'd feared. Drank a ton of Jai Alai at the pool ($7.50 a can; buy 5 get 1 free in a bucket), with the first couple cans from early June and the rest late June. Pool bar had a couple of other interesting drafts (2 Wynwood, one of which was also a dirty line), plus CCB Florida Cracker & a couple of Funky Buddhas. The lobby bar also had FB Hop Gun and a couple of other craft drafts, plus a handful of craft bottles.

Tap 42 hasn't been mentioned and is not too far from the diplomat. Def worth a trip. A little pricey but incredible food, great draft and bottle selection and they do offer bottle sales to go of some nice FL releases. Just be prepared to pay $$$$ for those bottles. Very fun indoor/outdoor bar vibe.
