I'm thinking of riding up from Scranton. I know Firestone Walker, Great Divide, and Lagunitis are available in NY, all of which aren't distro'd to Scranton. What bottle shops, if any should I try for other treasures? Did a web search which revealed a few, but I'd rather hear from some real BAs....

Ithaca is a longer haul. Is it worth my while to head there instead of greater Philly?

Sam the beerman in bing his pretty well respected. Veatal beverage and redemption center on rt26 was good both times i was there, but that was a while ago and he was expanding and very receptive to suggestions so it might be even better.

Tobe honest with you, the wegman in jc blew me away with selection and they had a lot of hopslam laat year, but i just missed sucks and enjoy by.

Lags and fw where pretty much everywhere in ny though. Let me know if you find jai alai up there cuz i dont want to make the short trip for nothing.

When I went up Sam the beer man was pretty good. They had Crooked Stave, FSW, Westbrook, Jack's Abby, NEBCO, and a lot more. You can get Firestone in Scranton though. Coopers has a few bottles. At least they did a few weeks ago.

Ithaca Coffee company and Finger lakes beverage center have a nice selection IMO in Ithaca.

I second Ithaca Coffee Company (stop if for a few tastes as well) and the Wegman's in Ithaca you cannot go wrong with. Huge selection.

Qick repost from my phone. Thanks for all the input. I did see FW at Coopers, but I'd like to get some of their bigger beers. Sams sounds really good. Quite a few things were listed not seen here...

I'm convincing the Mrs. that we should go to Ithaca, do the gorges, a winery or two, then complete the main objective of hitting these places. Thanks...

Not sure where you're at, but I've gotten Jai Alai at J & H in Plains, and I know cases come out of Plaza Beverage in Pittston. I'd call for availability...

If you need any suggestions for wineries let me know. Wife and I go out the day after Thanksgiving every year and hit the breweries on the way back.

Check out Ithaca brewing, they've remodeled and it's quite nice. Bandwagon brewery right in town of Ithaca too. Great appies and some good beers.
We hit 11 breweries around Ithaca, Dryden and along Seneca Lake without even trying. A lot of the wineries are breweries as well. Two Goats on Seneca Lake offers a great view but is only brewery that doesn't have flights. There's a finger lakes beer trail map.
As far as hiking: Buttermilk Falls, Robert H Treman and Toughanach (sp) are great.First two offer a lot of waterfalls. We go every year in July.

I love my town. Good choice to visit Ithaca. If you're doing dinner, I recommend North Star or Ithaca Beer for good farm to table type food and beer selection.

If you're hitting wineries, I recommend you hit the east side of Seneca Lake (30 minutes from Ithaca). Lameroux Landing is excellent, as is Damiani and several others. There's a distillery (Finger Lakes Distilling) and a couple breweries there. Two Goats is coming on strong with their own beer, and the view is killer.

BM any time if you have more questions.

Didn't make it to Ithaca, but I hit Sam the Beer Man on Front St. It was worth the ride, though I played Conklin today.
Brought home Jacks Abby, FW, and Westbrook. Also I was pleased to see MBC there. I'll be back for sure, then on to Ithaca...
