I'm going to be back in town next week, and am looking for recommendations on good bottle shops in the Bloomington / Minneapolis area. I'll be staying near the mall, but can travel throughout. The places I've been are Haskell's on 98th & Normandale, Cub Liquors on Shakopee, and MGM (?) also on Shakopee. They seem to have an OK selection, but not as extensive as my local shops.

I was in town last week and hit up Surly Tap (awesome!) and Town Hall (beautiful bar, but too hipster). Any other brew pubs worth checking out?

your close enough to go to Burnsville and check out Blue Max. There are several spots to grab a beer in that area, I have no issue meeting for a beer or several if times work out.

I'd throw Indeed in as a brewery worth your time, and would definitely second Blue Max. And if you're up for a bit of a drive, you can stroll over to Hudson and check out the selection on the other side of the MN/WI border.

Thanks for the quick responses. I stayed in Burnsville once upon a time, and it happened to be when they were doing work on 35W, which wasn't awesome for commuting. I tend to work crazy hours when I'm out there, but if i get some time off I'll holler. I'm heading to VT this weekend, and (provided they don't sell out tonight) I'll bring some Heady Topper with me to share / trade / drink myself in the hotel room.

If you're back in 7 Corners area, check out Republic 7C (across the street from Town Hall), Acadia and Nomad (2-3 blocks south on Cedar). Town Hall Lanes (50th and 34th Ave.) is just north of the airport and Hwy 62. Barley John's brewpub is worth a look if you're in the New Brighton area. Four Firkins store is straight north from Bloomington on Hwy 100 off 36th Street in St. Louis Park.

Fresh Abrasive won't drop until December. The last canning was in early March. Furious you can buy in all liquor stores. The OP listed many of the main stores in the Bloomington area. Also, check out Sid's Discount @ 83rd and Lyndale.

Anything out out of the ordinary at Surly?

I would second checking out Indeed, but if Town Hall Brewery was too hipster...

I second checking out Sid's at 83rd and Lyndale. A very good selection and by far the best prices around.

Steel Toe, tap room shouldn't be too hipster, maybe a lil to bikester. If you're bringing down some Topper, I would be interested in some. Hit me up if you want to make a swappy swappy.

Pour Decisions taproom is in an industrial park in the suburbs with a small, middle aged crowd. If Town Hall is too hipster this is probably your best bet.

Blue Max and South Lyndale are your closest great beer stores. They are both excellent spots.

Has anybody mentioned Blue Max yet  I have to second, third fourth or whatever the count is by now. To be in the direction that you are staying, it would be ridiculous not to go there if you are looking for great bottle shops.

Blue Max is now on my radar, thanks. Heady sold out yesterday before close, so no go there. Unless I score some at a packy.
