Just landed. Here till Weds. Any recommendations on Bottle Shops? I plan to visit Cantillon on Tuesday, since they are closed this Monday. Any advice would be appreciated
I mean around the City Center you have a ton of bottle shops, I picked out some 3 Fontein, some Cantillon, and Westy just browsing. You have to go to the breweries to find some of the rarer releases, though. I would recommend Bier Circus as they have a lot of aged stuff from both locations for 30-70 Euro. I did a 2002 Iris, a 2005 Gueuze, and a 2008 Kriek from Cantillon at Bier Circus.
I had no issue finding different types of Belgium beers in Brussels, Ghent, Antwerp, or Brugge.... I just walked around and they have one on almost every corner. It is like finding a church in the south, go a mile and you will pass one.
Most shops in Brussels are super overpriced tourist traps, just search the reviews to find decent ones.
Forget centre of Brussels, as said above they are all tourists traps. Try these: Malt Attacks & Malting Pot. But... high prices...
Stopped by Malting Pot today. They told me they had no Cantillon or 3F. It's a nice little shop. Clean and well organized. Had a nice chat with the person working there. I was surprised at the number of imports (American beers) they had on the shelves. Nice to see there is interest in US stuff in Belgium.
I'm sure you found plenty else to entertain -- and I hope that included some other gueuzes! Several great makers around and MP does stock a few.
