My buddy is in DC for a couple days. What bottle shops and beers should he look for? Thank you all in advance for the help. Cheers.
This comes up a lot. For a quick hitter and not worried about pricing, you can hit P Street Whole Foods, Rodman's, or Magruders/Chevy Chase Wine. All different parts of down depending on where they will be exactly.
P st whole foods Dvines U st wine and liquors Connecticut ave liquors , the one across street from DuPont metro Rodmans
I know this is technically not the right forum, but is there anything worthwhile within walking distance to Reagan? I'll be very limited on time next week...
One quick Metro Stop and about 1.5 blocks from this, http://www.crystalcitywineshop.com/ Hit the trains right and you could be there in about 7 minutes. For a beer bar try High Line i haven't been but heard it's an OK tap list (hit or miss service) http://highlinerxr.com/
Cheap and quick uber/cab ride to Rustico (Slaters location) in Alexandria. It's about 2 miles south of DCA. Same ownership group as Churchkey, great food and beer selection. For a good store, Evening Star Cafe on Mt Vernon Ave in Del Ray (neighborhood on north side of Alexandria) has a really good selection in their attached wine shop. They have a decent bar upstairs and food in the restaurant is good to. Evening Star is about 3 miles from DCA.
Rustico in Alexandria-that's the original location as opposed to the Arlington (Ballston) spot. The Alexandria Rustico is nicer imo as well. Pizza Paradiso is decent as well though not as nice as Rustico (available beers generally can't hold a candle to Rustico) and Paradiso is in old town about 5 miles from the airport. You can quickly metro to Old Town from DCA but Paradiso is a long walk from the King St station. For either Rustico and Evening Star, they have taplists available on their websites. Paradiso's taplist is on beermenus, or at least used to be when I lived in NoVa.
that's good to know, thanks! I'm moving to Alexandria in August and I wasn't aware of the Rustico there.
